Default 2005 gto header install HELP!!

so me and my two buddies tore into my one buddies 05 gto a4 and got to work on installing some pacesetter longtubes, we got everything out and the passenger side header in within 1 1/2 hours. the part we are stuck on now is the driver side header because of the steering shaft, can someone please point out what has to be done as far as what exactly has to come off on the rack? we undid the power steering lines that lead into the shaft and we removed the casing but have no idea how to get the shaft out any ideas???

part 2 of my question concerns the o2 sensors, ik on my 2000 z when i did my headers i bought new 02 sensors that were longer for the fronts and did away with the rear since i did not retain my cats, he will be doing the same on his but he has two sets of o2 bungs, ones up front and ones on his offroad extensions so do we need to buy extensions for all four o2 sensors or just two for the ones up front??

i would greatly appreciate any feed back for both parts we are drained and need some help, thanks in advance.

you must undo the steering rack and lower it. The rear o2 sensors can be reinstalled just to fill the holes. If you turn the steering wheel with the rack disconnected you will be looking at a realignment when you are finished.

yep you have to disconnect steering rack from steering column and they will fit just fine. Just mark how its connecting so you wont have crooked wheel :-P And there is flash side on the knuckle there make sure you put all this back forgather same way.

This^

I'm currently driving around with a slightly crooked steering wheel. Not fun.

Unbolt the steering rack, steering shaft and life the header up and in....bolt the steering rack/shaft back up, then bolt the header in.

I did it without disconnecting the PS lines. Just unbolted the whole rack and pinion set up, and pushed it as far to the passenger side as I could.
