Posting this up for a friend that is not a member yet.

My buddy has a stock 04' GTO, and wants me to put on a cat-back for him soon. 04's have the single exit bumper and he was looking into switching to a dual exit at the same time as the cat-back install. He doesnt like the traditional 05-06' dual exit bumper, but he and I have seen a few running around with a different style. After a little research I believe its called a "SAP" bumper?

If thats the case, where can I source one for him? And how much do they go for? Ive been in the LSx game for a few years now, but when it comes to GTOs I dont know too much yet. Thanks in advance anyone that can point me in the right direction.

they sell a template to cut the 04 to dual exit. probably be a much cheaper option. when done right you can't even tell

That also might be an option he is willing to take. Can you steer me in the right direction for one of those templates?

you can print the template and cut with a spiral bit in a dremel. either buy and paint the inserts or leave it without. the cuts look really clean

Remember he has to change the midpipes too or it won't bolt up.

lots of guys stay with the 04 muffler location and just custom bend pipes out to the bumper. either way works but i like the 04 location myself

You will have a hard time finding a SAP rear bumper. I would either put the 05-06 bumper on there or try cutting out your 04 bumper.

Will the mid pipes come with most catbacks?


With the little searching I did of the SAP bumper I figured it would be hard to find one. He doesnt like the 05/06 bumper, but liked the style of the SAP. Cutting his 04' bumper sounds like the best option for him.

No they come with headers.(headers are the same all three years) 05/06 midpipes goes with 05/06 catback

So I can keep his midpipe and use a Spintech or Stainless Works catback? Just trying to understand so I can better help my buddy pick out an exhaust haha.
