Default looking for a cam, dont know specs?

hey guys, ive got an 04 gto, im looking to do a cam. im wondering if i can do a 224r but idk what pushrod length i should get? anybody have any tips on how to shop for cams and things i should look for?

Unless you change the base circle on the cam you will not need to change pushrod length. You will have to be more specific on your goals for anyone to be able to suggest anything for you.

im looking to get a lil bit more of a power gain and somewhat of a lope. i just dont know the first thing about cams, except for what they do

good idea would be tune the car after you put cam in. So you can see full potential of cam in your car. Bigger cams will need tune for sure or your car will run like $#%@ :-D

7.4 length if you are on stock heads. Tune is a must. That cam is a great all around cam, good for daily driving.

Lope is a side event to a cam and shouldn't be a goal. You can tune a stock car to lope. My advise is to seek the advise of a cam grinder. You have no idea (or do I) as to the competency of someone giving internet advise. I used Ed Curtis at Flow Tech Induction dot com. A good grinder will want to know your goals, budget and what mods you have or intend to do in the near future,. Then they can get you the cam to meet those goals. Don't worry about the sound. They all have sound.
