Totaled My '04 6 Speed.... :(
Well I was just getting into gathering parts to do a wild build on my '04 and last weekend had a little accident the day it was supposed to go into storage....found out today from insurance company that it is totaled.
I only bought it 6 months ago with 65k miles on it....Black on Black 6 speed that was in amazing shape...was stock with exception of tint and K&N cold air intake...
After about 3 months I decided to throw some mods at it and ordered up the following stuff:
BC Racing Coilover Suspension
Hotchkis Front and Rear Sway Bars
Black Chrome/Hyper Chrome 19" XXR 522 Wheels 295s on rear
Short Shifter
Monster Stage 3 Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel
Tick Master Cylinder Kit
Kooks 1 7/8 Long Tube Headers
Kooks Catless Off Road Pipes
SLP LoudMouth 2 Exhaust
Texas Speed Ported LS6 Oil Pump
LS7 Lifters
Texas Speed Torquer V3 Cam
Texas Speed PRC Stage 2.5 CNC Ported LS6 Heads
Texas Speed 7.4 Chromoly Pushrods
Texas Speed Single Roller Timing Set
HPTuners Software
Got it all installed at a local LS1 specialist and had it tuned....423whp and it ran so smooth....I was in love....then decided I was going to supercharge it and that was the next plan so started saving money so I could do that over Winter....and now this happens....I'm heartbroken....plus I invested almost $12k in parts and labor as well as bought the car for $14k so I am invested at 26K and the insurance company is only giving me $13000 for everything...what a waste!
I may looks for another one though....this time it will be a 05 or 06 I think.

You never get back money that you put in mods. The only way to reclaim any of it is to buy the car back and demod it. It's a shame anytime one of our rare goats goes to the grave yard.

I ended up buying the car back though....now it's sitting in my garage and I have to decide what to do now...

The trade off of declaring mods is the insurance goes up to cover the added value and it goes up because you're declaring you're not driving a stock car. They know their risk is most likely going to go up just like if you bought a different model higher power car .

That's exactly what insurance guy said....basically said it is the price you pay to mod your car....I'll snap some pics tomorrow hopefully. I'm considering rebuilding it now as well.

If I do part it out I will let everyone on here know...I've head two guys already call me asking for the complete engine/tranny, but I really hate to tear her apart like that.... I'm meeting with a body guy tomorrow to see what he says.

Damn man, I'm very sorry to hear about your car. Glad you're OK. It's tough to invest this kind of money into what is essentially a toy. I have done it in the past and, thankfully, didn't loose much money on them. Having learned from two previous mistakes with cars, I think I'll be keeping my GTO because I'll never get what I've put into this one - the market just isn't there.
I would try to buy the car back and sell the parts, or try and get off what you can before the insurance comes to pick the car up.

At this point, it's worth your money to take the insurance check and put it into fixing the car. Obviously, you'll have to here from the body guy if it's worth fixing, but most anything can be fixed with the right amount of time and money invested. Judging by the fact that you're actually inquiring about it getting fixed, it can be done. I have a complete (minus hood, core support, front fasica, and airbags PBM '04) that I bought wrecked for the Ls1/t56 combo; depending on what parts you're wanting, I may be able to help out with that.

I think I might be able to help out with one of the headlights and fenders. I know the passenger headlight was DESTROYED and the passenger fender has a slight crease. I just found out that a local guy is interested in buying the whole car. He wants the motor/trans and seats for a Hot Rod. I really have no need for them with my new project so I'm entertaining the offer. Ideally, I'd like to just sell him the motor/trans and seats. Whenever you hear back on what all you need, PM me and I'll help out if at all possible.
