05 6.0 Gto cam help
Hey guys don't burn me because I'm a noob to this site and a noob to the gm side of things anyways if you would I would really like some input on what cam to get that still gives that harsh lopey muscle car sound but also can still be a good daily driver. Also short throw shifter is there any you all recommend over another I was thinking MGW because this thing has a mile in between shifts. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

GMM is a another nice shifter choice.
I would suggest you contact Ed Curtis if you want a custom cam, lopey does not mean best power. A cam should be dialed in to the rest of the mods on the engine, headers, intake, displacement, exhaust, throttle body, CR, valve springs and head air flow numbers.

I'm planning on full exhaust I got a vdr cold air intake and was wanting to maintain stock heads and maybe in the future fast 90 intake. So I'm wanting something to go along with that and I'm really wanting a nice sound where you can tell its cammed but still be able to take off on a drive and feel confident about my car.

Yeah, um go ahead and forget about the ms3. There are cams out there that would kill it that are smaller and more street friendly. No way would I run a cam from the ms3 era now with all the development in lobes and profiles.
Call Ed Curtis and Geoff @EPS. Or even find who is going to do your tuning and get them to recommend a cam for you. There are to many options out there for you to just pick out a big old cam. Ive had a MS3, torque wise it was a turd. Bigger isnt always better on a street car no matter who tunes it.

Been there, done that. Torque wise it is a turd. Not flat headed, just the facts. Worst torque producing cam Ive owned or installed for anyone. And for a heavy stock geared dd, not ideal.
OP, call the popular cam sponsors. Id bet most would steer you to a smaller or mid sized cam.

thanks - it runs just as good as it sounds. when doing your research, dont assume people that SOUND like they know what their talking about DO know what their talking about.
pick up the phone and call around, talk to a few builders, talk to anyone you know personally what they did and like, or have regrets on, and see where you want to go. there are a ton of keyboard ninjas that think their opinion is the end all be all of opinions, so be sure to take it with a grain of salt
( including mine ).
you can get a cam with a torque band almost anywhere you want it, i.e. lower rpm torque monster, or a higher rpm screamer. just be sure to your build matches your wants.

Short throws get covered every 6 hours it seems like..
The best options are:
MGW-P
GMM
Billit Pro
The others have mixed reviews.
As far as a cam goes, sounds like you want a high 22X/22X or low 23X/23X on a 112 split with a good tune.
It seems to me that 114LSAs are a bit too high for a heavy car that needs to get going off the line unless you have a 224/224 duration or less or 3.91 gears.

I also recommend to stay away from the MS3... it leaves alot to be desired IMO. We can get you setup with a custom cam based on your other mods and what you are looking for out of the car. I have plenty of dyno runs on 05-06 GTO's with various mods to show you different torque curves and powerbands of a few different cams. I recommend Brian Tooley Racing valve springs and other components. 400rwhp dynojet isn't going to be hard to achieve with an LS2. Our in house Dyno Dynamics is a little on the stingy side as compared to dynojets in general but it's a tuning tool and I think you'll be happy with the results when completed.

If you're interested in street torque don't just slap on an exhaust you picked for sound. I picked up over 30 RWTQ down low dropping a conventional bolt set up and making a custom one. It basically shortened the collector (midpipe) and moved the X pipe up closer to the LTs.

FWIW the FTI StreetSweeper HT with it's low 111 lsa moves the meat of the torque band down in the mid 2,000s to mid 6,000 RPM range. I can also still lug my car at 1,200 in 6th gear with no problem and no surging.. The gain in torque from the exhaust was more than even I expected but the black science of exhaust fluid dynamics always seems to be over looked or thought of in simplistic terms of bigger is better.
