Smile Hi, I am new on here from OHIO, GTO 2006

I just bought this 2006 GTO and do believe it has been lowered. I want to raise the back end up because it bottoms out too easy. How do I tell what springs were used if it was lowered and what are my best options to fix it?

Can you get some pics of the under side and springs? what is the height from the floor to the wheel well lip ? Just based off these pics it looks almost stock height. Check the springs for a sticker and see if it has an ID left on it

Not that I've seen many GTO's in person to reference ride height but it looks lower than stock. I think it's rubbing the tire more than bottoming out though, there seemed to be more travel before the bump stop hits compared to room between the fender and tire sidewall.
I forgot to check your tires' size (height) versus stock tire size (height). Those wheels do have a lower offset which pushes them out more than stock, but it looks nice.

I am getting pix here in a min. but the tire size is 245 40zr18. The distance is 26''. The springs look stock, black and the numbers 92100087.

autozone and such places used to have a screw in style lift for the spring. not real pretty but it may give ya a little boost

What are your shockers like? May need a decent set of gas shocks. Height looks about stock, maybe 1" lower. Both my daughters cars are much lower than that.

First, welcome to this world and specifically the GTO.

I can't believe no one here has solved this yet...

OK. Yes you have a stock spring, but that is NOT stock height. Our GTO suspension comes off the boat SCREWED. It's flattened, squashed, and not that great. Rumor has it this is due to being tightened down too hard when they got shipped here. Springs are cheap, just buy new ones. I know you are really wanting to dig into power mods, but your best bet is to drop a few hundred into poly suspension bushings first. You WANT power, but your car NEEDS fixed suspension.

For reference, I've attached a picture of my GTO. I have an aftermarket stiffer STOCK HEIGHT spring in the rear, the front is a .8 drop spring. My wheel/tire combo is a little taller, but you get the idea.

Default The car was lowered

I have been working so hard to figure out what's up with my GTO. IT WAS lowered. The dealership is going to pay to restore to original condition. Thanks for all your advice!

(Late) welcome to the forum! So how exactly was it lowered using stock springs? Where they cut?

Uh, from the pictures and from others' comments, looks like typical stock rear spring sag.

Anyways, welcome to the herd.

Default rear tire

Well after all the new suspension work, the rear tires still rub but not as bad. The tires are just too wide for the car. I think rolling the fenders or trimming them might help, but not sure if it will solve the issue. Any one want to buy some tires and rims? lol
