Default OBX Shorty Headers

I decided to go with these and leave the cats on. Someone recommended the X-pipe below. Is it any good? What's a better one? Is this all that I'll need for the install?

Shorty headers with stock midpipes will gain you about nothing. The restriction in the stock exhaust is primarily in the midpipes.

What about shorties with a good, catted mid?

If you don't want to go the longtube route, JBA shorty headers and JBA catted mids are a good combination. Even better with a quality catback. OBX shorty headers are just a cheap intellectual-property-stealing knockoff. Spend a few more bucks and support the guys that actually designed and make the best shory headers available for the GTO. The OBX versions are also missing a few of the features JBA includes that make the JBAs work better.

Is there anything good that's a bit cheaper? On Ebay, both parts are each $500+.

Yeah, I know. With my next bonus, it's this, the install, and a tune or a gun. Haha.

Very true. JBA shortys and catted mids are quality pieces. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I would strongly recommend the JBA package instead of the OBX.

Do it once do it right. You will end up regretting going with obx and shorties. Save money now to save money down the road

i have obx shorties and LOVE them, way cheaper with thicker flanges, welds look great, theyre stainless, and flow awesome. i showed 20 rwtq gain doing these stock mids and diamondfire plugs. i know other people who went against the crowd and they all love them too. OBX is well known in the import world for making good pieces at great prices. just my 2 cents

Speaking of obx, anyone recently install the obx catback? I was wondering what the fit was like, seems decent for a temporary solution. I spoke to obx, the engrish and knowledge was terrible, but that's expected at the price point.

What do you guys think about these new versus used JBA Shorties? Would it be worth it to spend the extra ~$90 for the new ones, or is the used set in decent enough shape?

I have ran JBA shorties and catted mids on both my GTO's. They are a great combo. Shorties, mids, K&N CAI with a dyno tune got me to 335/350. Not too bad all things considered!
Look used, they pop up every now and again. This go-round I bought both headers and mids for $450.00.

Well, he may be talking about an application other than at GTO given his screen name. But it is the truth that on a GTO shorties with stock mids will gain next to nothing.

The biggest issue with OBX stuff is that OBX doesn't design their own stuff but they are real good at ripping off (copying) intellectual designs of other more legit companies. Some people don't like supporting companies like that regardless of the pricing.
