GTO Stereo Swap(w/pics)
Hi all. I changed my head unit today and thought you all would be interested in some pics to help you through the process when you do the same.
First, you pull the Blaupunkt out. Here's the back and top of the unit. Nice wiring diagram to help you figure your wires out:
Here's what you see behind it:
Next, you have to remove the stock dim unit to make room for the kit(which you need unless you fab your own). Here's what the stock dim looks like removed.(note it hinges on top and bottom to make it easier to remove):
Here's what you have once the dim is out of the way:
That blue wire is from my I-Pod Adapter, here's a shot of where the I-Pod Adapter is hidden:
Once that is done, go ahead and assemble your new kit with your new head unit:
Stuff all the wires back in the hole, and instert new kit(it fit really easily):
Here's the finished product:
I hope someone will find this useful! It was basically a Volkswagen setup.
Bad points to this: You lose steering wheel controls(but the unit has a remote). You lose separate sub-woofer controls(wired with rear speakers for 4-way adjustment), but the sub-amp still powers the sub-woofers so you get plenty of punch.
Enjoy!

I just dislike the fact the dash kit doesnt match the factory finish of the dash itself. Kinda stupid they would give it a texture when the stock dash is smooth.
Good install pictures though.
