A guy in Florida has got his bone stock 6-speed '05 GTO to run a 12.9 at 108. The highest trap speed bone stock I've seen is 110 over at gtoforum.com for s stock '05. The average though is mid to low 13's with a 105-108 trap speed..

I cant get the pig off the line well, and it spins through second, but I pulled a 13.3 @ 105.4 tonight with a 2.1 60' time on street tires. People have been going 12's on DR's with better launches for awhile. I'm not sure I would go so far as to believe 110mph trap speed stock, perhaps that is what speed they are reading their speedo at when they pass the lights, which would be slightly high. Even 108mph traps stock would be pretty freakish except perhaps at sea level on a perfect track with a perfect run and everything else perfect, oh and the stars, sun, moon, planets and entire universe in holy alignment for the first time ever in the history of time. (ok, thats a little overboard but you get the picture) I still say stock 05's can go 12's with traction and a good driver. Tune out the torque managment and tweak fuel/timing and high/mid 12's shouldnt be unusual with good traction. On a side note, it is easy to run very bad times with bad traction and the rubber shifter these things have.

If people could trap 105-106 in stock LS1 gto's then they can trap 108-110 stock with LS2 gto's.

It must just be their track. A friend running drag radials on a modified 04 runs 13.3's at 100-102mph typicaly. I think his best trap ever was 103something. Keep in mind 05's also have a lot more electronic trickery built in, from torque managment (on all 05's, not just autos), overcompensated IAT tables, 10.5:1 air/fuel ratios and such. Some people have overcome this with a basic tune and clearly the car is still 'stock' but is lacking torque managment or the IAT retard is tuned out some making it consistantly faster than one with those still in place. A few people claim 3/10ths just from torque managment alone. (which would easily be worth some mph)

I've also noticed some tracks are in fact slightly down hill which no doubt is a big advantage at that track.

I CAN see 108 being possible on a good run with a better than 2.0 short time. 110 might be pushing it a bit. Becides, some people still think their car is stock with a K&N cold air, headers, cat-back, catless and tuned... ya know, they didnt open up the motor yet so its stock!

Edit: It might not be up to date, but here is the "top 1/4 mile times" for LS2, stock and bolt-ons... Of course those are just people who listed theirs. Mine would be between 7th and 8th place, stock of course. 104-107 seems to be the typical traps, 108-110 clearly is doable but with what mods and under what conditions?

Top NA LS2 ET's - Modified - Bolt Ons / Tune Only:
1) TM2FLI 12.60 @ 110.41 MPH
2) HRJ 12.998 @ 107.59 MPH w/ Nitto DR
3) Jwarren 13.032 @ 106.66 MPH w/ Tune, Nittos, Headers
4) hookmechanic 13.051 @ 108.8 MPH
5) VR42GTO 13.15 @ 107.01 MPH w/ Nitto DR
6) CruznPA 13.259 @ 107.89 MPH
7) Tims05 13.290 @ 104.45 MPH - SLP Catback
8) LS2GTO 13.44 @ 105 MPH
9) wake 13.585 @ 104.34 MPH
10) KrautBurner 13.913 @ 102.20 MPH

I think KCIR is the devil for good trap speed.

I've only gotten 122 mph out of my 4 cylinder there.

I ran 13.1@105 when my '04 was completely stock, so I would expect the '05's should be good for a few tenths better than that.

Best my stock 04 could put down Friday night at US41 was 103.42MPH @ 13.647, had a horrid reaction though 1.273, and a 2.155 60 foot.

Little more practice, drags & upgrades coming for next year.

reaction time doesn't matter in getting a good ET - 60' time does.

I own a 99 Camaro. And nobody likes the GTO body but me. I think they coulda gone more 'muslce carish' but I just love how it looks and the power. Anyways, I thought GTO's would be faster than me by far. I have a stock Camaro other then the mods listed below and I got a 13.5 @ 103.66 -- Why would I be able to hang with a GTO?

The GTO makes the same amount of hp and has better overall gearing, but weight 400 pounds more. That's why you can hang.

05's are hampered more by the computers than anything. Torque managment and very agressive IAT retard maps make up for the main reason 05's arent really running any faster than 04's which lack both of the above. A friend around here with an 04 is running drag radials and a custom exhaust and pulled 12.9's at 106 at the track the day after I ran a 13.3 at 105 on street tires. (Of course his 60' was a few tenths quicker which makes all the difference in the world.)

On the subject of 60's, my last car went from high 12's (12.8's) to low 12's (12.3's) by cutting 2 tenths off the 60' times with better tires.

I can't 60'. Almost 111 MPH and all I could muster was a 13.14. My 60' was an impressive 2.20. I should be a mid 12
