Functional Hood Scoops
Are the 05 and 06 GTO hood scoops functional? they have a rubber plastic that blocks the air. i took the plastic off and the car seemed to run a little cooler, but i dont know if the covers are so the rain wont leak in. am i supposed to leave the plastic on despite the air flow to be less if anything at all?

i wondered about that as well. the other day i looked at one in the dealer lot and was disapointed to see them blocked off.
i didn't realize that you could remove them and actually let air into the engine compartment.
i would think that if it runs cooler it can't hurt, unless rain water could possibly damage something, but i wouldn't think it would.
are you sure it actually ran cooler? has anyone else tried this and experienced dropped operating temp?

rain, dirt, etc. does get into the engine bay with them removed.
might reduce heat by a small amount
but makes no difference in performance (i've ran at the track plenty of times to test it out)
