and to the CTS guy, the GTO and the CTS have different rear end gearing, so I'm thinking thats likely whats making any difference.

F bodys weigh less and have solid rear end. For a heavier car with an IRS to go the same as the F body's is pretty damn good. A good driver in a 04 with no mods can run a very low 13. It's all a driver race. I ran mid 12 second cars on the street and if you can not launch the car you will lose.
