I really like the way it looks in the pictures but will reserve final impressions til I see it in person. I believe it will sell far better than the f-bodys did in their final years. Like the mustang, it should appeal to a far greater variety of people because of it's ergonomics and everyday liveability. Even though I like my Z, it really wasn't practical for long trips, and having to climb in and out of it everyday can be a bit tedious. In my opinion, the GTO will probably need a few more ponies underhood to offset the extra weight but that will probably come in the near future. I think it is a step in the right direction because afterall what else does gm offer for us performance buffs...besides the vette? Kudos.

Just got back from the Cleveland auto show, despite what people say this thing is just as boring in person as it is on the internet or the pages of a magazine article. I think 3 people were looking at it.

Nice car, with Rip snortin' contemporary styling!
This car may very well have good stock performance, but I can't say I would invest good money in aftermarket performance parts on a car that looks so everyday like...ho hum.
It is much to bland a look for the muscle car purist.
But hey, GM is obsessed with marketing that back seat so that is what counts...right.

I don't think this one is marketed toward Fbody "types", more like the older Impala crowd will enjoy this one.
I don't like the spoiler, with better rims it will look good.

seems more like a souped up family sedan. The typical senario will be wife and kids want a comfortable family car husband wants a sports car. Hey look honey the new GTO Definitly doesn't replace the F-body but I see more families owning them than real sports car enthusiast

I think it looks alright, but the dual tips on the driver's side need to go. If they could be replaced with quad tips, I think it would be better.

I agree with the quad tips the other thing it needs is some kind of hood scoop. I wish they could also change the front a little bit so wont mix it up with a grand am from the front anyway.

I am sorry, but that GTO is NOT a GTO. It in no way resembles a 1974 GTO. GM should give it a different name. That is like Van Halen having a new lead singer and still calling the band Van Halen.
As for the looks, this car looks like a mix between a Mustang and a Grand Am. I mean look at it. The body is ugly. It does not look like a sports car. I will be looking for a new Corvette.

My opinion is it looks like a cavalier from the side what is GM thinking the only thing it has going is a solid motor and better handling due to the IRS otherwise they can take there POS and I will keep my Bottle Fed Z.... I can't wait to destroy one on the road.

Just because you don't like it dosnt make it a POS. The only people who apparently thought the new GTO would look anything like the GTO of old is GTO fans and I guess it's not surprising that they don't like it. I personaly do like it and hope to get one of the first ones in Georgia.

Our Australian LS1 brothers have cars that look a lot different from ours... Take at look at some of their rides...

I dig it but I won't buy one becuase they made it a Pontiac. They should have brought it over as a Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. That would have been cool, after all it has a Chevy engine anyway.

Anyways, it would have been just as ugly had it been a monte carlo
Oh BTW, news flash, pontiac hasn't made an engine in over 20 years, so how the hell would they put a pontiac in it even if they wanted too.

WTF were they thinking about when they designed this car? GTO my ***...it looks like a Grand Am. I don't care if it has a 600 cubic inch twin turbo under the hood, I just don't like the styling of it. This car doesn't say "GTO" in the styling, only the badge. I know there are a lot of people who do, but I guess that's why they make so many different cars.

Well, what a spectrum of opinions on this car.
I like it, but its more because of the V-8/RWD cars going the way of the dinosaur. Anything with power and rear wheel drive always peaks my interest in this SUV crazed world.
I like it. Will I sell my 500+ horsepower Camaro for one? Hell no. But I can see purchasing it mainly because my 01 Monte SS daily driver has been beaten by a 4 door Honda. That is a shame, I will never recover from....I actually went straight home, got out the Camaro and hunted this pimply faced Honda driving kid down.
So the GTO is tame looking...fair enough. But dont be surprised when tech questions start coming on here about nitrous, torque converter, and drag wheels, followed shortly by very impressive ET's.
Will I buy one......Maybe.

uhh yeah with driver and options it will probably weigh 3900 pounds..
But at least the Wheel gap wraps aroudn the tires better, the f-bodys have that horrible gap.

I like the new Grand Am... oh wait it's a GTO I'm not saying it's ugly... It just doesn't resemble any muscle... I would probably buy the wife one...

The GTO was NEVER meant to be a replacement to the F-Body. And for those of you do not like the look or the weight, just wait a couple of years. Word is out of the land of Oz is that the Commodore chassis will be replaced with the Sigma chassis. Imagine a 2-door Caddy CTS with LS1. An LS6 powered version could easily be called "The Judge", or Pontiac could stick with GXP like the rest of their line-up.
Just something to think about.
