Default Gains w/ LTs?

Okay, so here's the deal... I don't own a GTO (as some of you know). I have a '94 LT1 Z, pretty much stock.

My friend is coming back from Afghanistan and we are both doing LT headers and planning on getting a tune at Speed Secrets. I guess what I'm wondering is what kind of gains have been seen on the LS2 w/ just long-tubes? My friend is convinced it won't do much b/c the dealer fed him this bullsh*t about how since the factory exhaust is tuned it won't show any gain.

Anyway, sorry for the ignorant question... but I am curious. And if anyone happens to know offhand how much HP an LT1 will gain, I'm not opposed to hearing that, either

Long tubes are one of the best mods you can do on and lsx motor. They love 'em.

I know he's going to get some power... and we are both getting our cars dyno-tuned after the install, but I mean... numbers wise, any clue what he'll gain? I mean, is it gonna be 15 WHP? 20 maybe?

If he is getting a tune 15-25RWHP would be a good guess. If not I would say 5-10. The LS2 works well with mods, but it seems a tune is needed to really get the most out of it...

I picked up 23 more HP/TQ with a LF CAI & SLP headers. That's not from a baseline dyno, but from other folks OEM stats.

I have a question. Many say mods put out more HP after a tune. Now, does that mean a dyno tune, or will you get more gains also from a handheld tune, such as the Predator?

Every car varies, unless you did a baseline dyno on your own car you can not say what you gained.

Dyno tune is the only real way to go IMO.

LAME.

I would say 20 whp with headers after tune. Kinda sucks how bad the LS2's are dependent on a tune to compensate for every mod.

My friend just picked up 16 rwhp on his 06 gto with his 1 7/8 ARH and hi flo cats before tune.

I had mine installed but I havent hit the dyno yet . Id think with the offroad pipes you would see 20+

No, meaning I never had the car dyno'd before I modded it. My 1st tune at was 367/367 with headers/CAI. But I have no idea what the pre-mod baseline was, only from what I read on other forums.

My LS1 had a baseline of 292 rwhp and 318 rwtq on Speed Inc's dyno. Did CAI, plugs, wires, SW 1.75 LT headers with offroad pipes, and dynotune. New numbers were 331 rwhp and 339 rwtq. So increase of 39 rwhp and 21 rwtq on my LS1 through the stock catback...

Let me break it down - Stock dyno numbers vary widely, so you cannot go off what someone else put down and apply it to your car. You cannot say how much hp you gained because you don't know how much you made before the mods, so for you to quote specific numbers like you did is absurd.

I was at 320 rwhp and 330 rwtq with a cat back, CAI, UD pulley and a predator tune. With long tubes and high flow cats WITH a professional tune I was at 345 rwhp and 346 rwtq on a mustang dyno.
