Gains w/ LTs?
Okay, so here's the deal... I don't own a GTO (as some of you know). I have a '94 LT1 Z, pretty much stock.
My friend is coming back from Afghanistan and we are both doing LT headers and planning on getting a tune at Speed Secrets. I guess what I'm wondering is what kind of gains have been seen on the LS2 w/ just long-tubes? My friend is convinced it won't do much b/c the dealer fed him this bullsh*t about how since the factory exhaust is tuned it won't show any gain.
Anyway, sorry for the ignorant question... but I am curious. And if anyone happens to know offhand how much HP an LT1 will gain, I'm not opposed to hearing that, either

I know he's going to get some power... and we are both getting our cars dyno-tuned after the install, but I mean... numbers wise, any clue what he'll gain? I mean, is it gonna be 15 WHP? 20 maybe?

I have a question. Many say mods put out more HP after a tune. Now, does that mean a dyno tune, or will you get more gains also from a handheld tune, such as the Predator?

I would say 20 whp with headers after tune. Kinda sucks how bad the LS2's are dependent on a tune to compensate for every mod.

My LS1 had a baseline of 292 rwhp and 318 rwtq on Speed Inc's dyno. Did CAI, plugs, wires, SW 1.75 LT headers with offroad pipes, and dynotune. New numbers were 331 rwhp and 339 rwtq. So increase of 39 rwhp and 21 rwtq on my LS1 through the stock catback...

I was at 320 rwhp and 330 rwtq with a cat back, CAI, UD pulley and a predator tune. With long tubes and high flow cats WITH a professional tune I was at 345 rwhp and 346 rwtq on a mustang dyno.
