Default anyone here running faster than 11.49?

I'm looking for some GTO cage info...

any info would be great.

who made it?
who installed it?
how much was it? how much was the install?
did you completely loose the use of the back seat?
does it get in the way of driving the car (on the street)?
any regrets?

I'm running 11.20's with no cage. Most tracks will hassle you until you get to the 10.90's then will require you to have one.
I'm getting a 8 point c/m roll cage in April. It will have a window net and will be certified to 8.50

you are going with the swing out door bars right? they are still legal to 8.50.

is this a mild steel or chrome molly cage? i would spend the extra cash and go chrome molly, plus it's easier to tig weld and still protect the interior.

Yep chrome molly, the only way to go.
And yes, I'm going to have removable side bars, not swing out. And the bar behind the seats will also be removable.
I'll put them back in when I go to the track.

i wouldn't worry about the rear bar (unless you have kids)

mine are swing outs, yet remove one bolt and they come right out.

is the cage "custom" or a kit?

iv'e got a buddys stolen gto "stripped" to use as a mock up for the cage kit i want to build. nice and tight and hidden!

Shame on you for steealing and stripping your buddies car, LOL..

I do have kids, that's the only reason for the rear bar coming out.

It's a custom cage.

now,
my understanding on the rear (harness) bar is that it can't be removable,

it has to be welded in

Not sure on that. I was looking at BMR's web page and seen that they did that on their GTO.

Check out WavyDavy's cage on LS1GTO.com

I think its in the Southeast section. His rear bar is removable, but made in such a way that it doesn't look like it would be and has passed visual inspection at the track a number of times.

as you can see,
I've been waiting for the pix of his.

still can't believe that there's only like 3 or 4 gto's with cages,
yet there's over 20 that run low 11's or faster

It is hard to believe there only are a few GTOs with cages, however not hard to believe those of us running a low pass once in a while don't put cages in our cars. I plan to run almost exactly one 10 second pass with nitrous and a few changes made. Until then it's just a nice car that CAN run a cage required pass if need be. I've been running on motor with low 12 second passes just for fun, with gears now 11 seconds motor hopefully, fast enough for me. From what I've seen most IHRA tracks dont hastle you until you hit 10s.
