Default Buying GTO with no Motor,Whats it worth?

Hey guys, I have a question and I want to get some feedback, I might be able to get a perfect 2005 Gto 6 Speed but the only deal is it is a theft recovery and the ******** stole the motor and trans out of it!!!! I was looking at some ls2 motor and trans combos on ebay and they were anywere from 2000 to 5000. What would be a good price to get the Body for? I figured since doing this, the idea is to save money or come out with a 500 hp GTO for the price of a stock one, so maybe a max 8000.00 for the body and average in about 6000 for the motor and extra stuff I problay dont know about. ( I would do the installation). Whatcha yall think? Should I try to tackle this.

If you can get the body for a good price, put a 408 in it.

I would think 8-10K, but it will be hard to sell later as I would think the title is marked salvaged..

I agree, 8-10k, but title will be marked salvage. In that case, get a crate ls7 in that puppy!

You might not be able to title it in your state if it's marked as salvage.

salvage is fine. as long as it isn't "non repairable" I paid 8k for a torrid/6 gear minus drivetrain. let me guess that cars in Georgia

Let me know if you dont get it, because I would prefer a goat with no motor. If its in GA that would be even better.

I imagine the wiring harness was cut. That will be fun to fix.

My buddy's bike was stolen and later recovered with about 8 miles of extra wiring. What a mess.

Tell ya what The drivetrain is more than 5k be prepared to pay 6500-8k for a parts car.

my harness was cut a my friend is a wiring genius it all works perfect. FWIW the harness isn't serviceable in 1 piece unless you chop out the firewall.

If your bidding then start at around $6500 if it was only the engine and trans thats missing.

Screw a Crate LS7 (505 crank ponies for 13k < Sponsor L92 longblock will make). There's to much extra work needs to be done to get that dry sump LS7 to drop into the engine bay of a GTO. Go wetsump shortblock or longblock from a sponsor and build something with 500rwhp.

Get intouch with SDPC or one of the other sponsors and figure out which motor you want. Then get with T56.com (another sponsor) and get ahold of a tweaked T56 for the car.

You're probably also going to need an exhaust system and a drive shaft along with alot of wire (to get everything back to driveable).

Does it still have the ECU?

Hmmm I wonder if SDPC can purchase a wiring harness for a 05/06 GTO, and if so how much it would cost?

I'm thinking 5k for no drivetrain w/ salvage title as long as everything is MINT.

Watch for flood cars from the hurricanes. Many of them have been creeping up north in the past couple years...

no way. so if you have an engine fire that means you have cut the firewal and awindhield to replace the harness. i highly doubt it.
