What are you guys using for rear ends in these cars? I see so many high hp Monaros I know for sure they can't be on the stock rears.

The housing isn't that bad. Once you throw in a Kaaz diff and stronger axles/stubs, the IRS (lack of) traction limits the rest from breaking.

The 8" ring gear scares me, I've seen a TON of "my rear end failed catastrophically" threads on LSxgto.com with anything from stock to 500rwhp or so.

A lot of the factory diffs weren't setup right and had whine or other issues to begin with. Also, the notorious wheelhop problem really bangs the **** out of the gears. Add improper pinion depth or wrong ring gear backlash to wheelhop plus twisted junk stock inner stubs binding, and failure is likely. Don't get me wrong, bigger would be better, but I don't see anyone pulling off 1.3 short times with IRS anyway. For the paranoid, there is a 12 bolt conversion available, and there used to be a 9" conversion available, but they are both insanely expensive.

I wouldn't swap to a SRA anyway, I just wish there was a bolt-in IRS diff upgrade.

The M80 is what they use in GTOs, and the LS2 exceeds those recommended tq ratings. It'd be nice if someone offered a bolt-in M90.

If I remember right one of the sponsors on ls1gto.com offers a 8.8 irs conversion kit.
