i have an lpe cai on order. cant wait 
i have heard nothing but good reviews about it.
i had a k&n fipk but didnt fit w/ my tb. i also didnt care for the bracket that is bolted to the block :/
update: installed the lpe cai & love it. good looking design & fit compaired to the k&n fipk imo

ask the people that "love" their intake what their IATs and MAPs are under stop and go and WOT runs. that's the only data that will show you what the intake is doing. dyno stuff isn't real world and all of the rest is feelings .

I have been cursing around town with my CAI system and I have found better IAT's than I would have imagined. With an ambient temp. of ~70 deg. I typically see 80 deg. on the highway and 90 deg. in stop & go. I have yet to log a IAT of over 100 deg. I have the insulated CAI box and ceramic tube system. Based off this data I would say that I 'love' my CAI system. I will say that I improved the system by adding some of the 'bubble wrap' type insulation with aluminum foil that you can get from Home Depot between the filter box and the radiator. Maybe this keeps the hot air from heat-soaking the box.
I hope to find time this weekend to take another look at the radiator area and reduce the temp's even further.
Another note: I originally insulated the CAI tube with the same Home Depot insulation and I did not notice any difference. I have since removed said insulation.

the hardcore only works for the 2004 LS1, correct? For the LS2, you have to move a fluid tank. Am i right? IF not, i will buy it perhaps.
I am actually planning on fabbing up a sort of hard core this weekend. I am going to cur a hole in the bottom of the box, and run a plastic tube to the bttom grill (the one with the plastic slats that run the full length of the car) and install a small scoop in the corner. This should ram air up into the airbox for me while moving, and while sitting at lights, give the air intake somewhere to suck air from other then the hot *** hood.

ahhh. Thanks Arkla. was it you who i was talking about the twin screw on the trans am and GTO, or no? If it was, i see you went with a GenTT. How do u like it? what made u choose that over the APS system? They both seem bad ***. just curious why u went one over the other.
