Get the race style. Install depends on how mechanically inclined you are. I have heard people say that the shifter is loud but it is really not that bad thinking about the fact the handle is like a tuning fork for the drivetrain.

Definitely get the race version. My 05 has it and it feels good. I had a stock hurst with a Lou's short stick in my old TA and it around the same noise level. Not too bad, but noticeable.

In regards to install. I have no idea, mine was on when I bought it.

Then its not the race.
Its the street/lss combo.
The street has the ability to use the stock stick part of the shifter. The race replaces everything so there is no where to bolt a LSS to.

Billet pro all the way! 3 selectable height settings from a 50-62% reduction. Just installed a cam on a '06 and was playing w/his stock shifter, WOW! I could never go back...

Yes, It wasn't too bad. I had to install a new LS-7 clutch & flywheel, So I had the transmission out of the car already. The shifter was a pretty quick install. It was well worth it too. The shifts are a lot quicker & easier to engage. You won't be disappointed. At least I wasn't. Good luck with you're Install.
