Just the usual stuff like a support cover, fresh seals, and good diff fluid(I use Royal Purple). A lot of people use the Torsen2 diffs.

As long as you don't bounce the car too hard over the curbing, a 10 bolt will last a while on a big track.

Anything else besides a stock rear will just add extra weight.

Yeah, this is one thing the stock 10-bolt does do well. I think the Torsen is known to be the best posi. I have done 6 HPDEs now and my 10-bolt has been fine other than the pinion seal needing replaced. Apparently they are kind of bad about that.

the old T2Rs were the best. as of last year, their quality has changed drastically. people who regularly race are getting barely a half season out of the new T2R, while the older ones could last several years.

First of all the Torsen's these days aren't what they used to be.. In fact I stopped using them, and really don't like to sell them anymore due to a number of failures (both wear and breakage related).

There are a number of differential options, but I'd ask anyone considering a T2R to talk to me first so I can fill them with the information I have to offer.

A 10-bolt really does do a good job when it's not subjected to drag race type pounding and shock loads. As for gearing, nobody can say for sure. Since tracks vary in speed (both cornering and straightline) the gearing will change. There could well be times where a 3.73 might force a shift up where 3.42's might not. There are times when a 3.42 might mean you want to drop a gear where 3.73's might allow you hold the higher gear. The most recommended gear for track days if a change is going to be made is 3.73.

4.10's are short, and fragile. 3.73's don't generally force a 4-5 upshift except on the fastest tracks. FWIW, we also have gear sets as well as master installation kits for those who do change gears.

I have a Moser 12 bolt with 3.73s trutrac... This I believe is the BEST option for an aftermarket rearend in terms of roadracing... Like strano said 4.10s are too short of a gear and any Ford 9" Is probably gonna be adding way too much weight..

the only reason I have a 12 bolt and not a 10 bolt is because I also drag race the car... But I believe to have the best rearend for the use of road racing and drag racing

(best of both worlds)

I am thinking the Midwest 9 with an AL center section and a true trac or auburn diff would be the best of both worlds. Fab9's have 10 bolt weight with 9" survivability.

A fabricated 9" will not accept a Watts link if you have, or are planning on one. FWIW. I agree 9's give you a lot more options in terms of differentials, and they are usually my recommendation for cars that turn because of that. But because the Watts link is also a "turning" part, I want folks to be aware that a fabbed 9" and the watts aren't compatible.
