Default A&A Corvette autocross video. 10/22-23/2011.

Went down to Auto Club Speedway. Saturday's practice in my car felt decent. I really have no rear grip at all, so trying to keep it going straight is a real challenge. Still not a bad day 2nd. overall out of 80 cars.

Sunday I race my friends stock 04 Z06. After losing the last race, I told him I needed a faster car. After some testing a couple of weeks ago, we came up with a great setup. 1st in class.

Hoosier A6's are the only way to go. Friends stock Z06 is running on Kumho XS. When new, there pretty good.

Here is some pictures of my car. Stock LS6 with headers. 386 rwhp.

How long do those A6's last? I'd love to use those but they can get pricey after a few season I'd imagine.

You can get some used with just a few passes for less than half of new price. I got a set for $380 plus shipping that lasted me a little over a season.

dang thats short, I think in that case I would just throw them in my trunk and change them at the track. I was also looking into the Nitto NT05 for a more all around competition tire. Have you tried those tires out?

In your opinion would you say weight reduction is more important than all out grip from beefier and softer tires? My car weights in at a lil over 3500lbs with a iron block 305 and TH350 and wana change to an aluminum LSx and 5 or 6speed but if I can save $1k+ by going iron then thats $1k+ I can put into suspension/tires/brakes...etc. I'm not sure what my weight bias is either but it cant be too bad cause the trunk hangs way out of the back a good 3+ft from the axle.

I have not tried NT-05. On the stock Z06, we run Kumho XS tires. Pretty good when new. Tires and wheels are the most important. They will reduce time by a lot. Then I would get great shocks. After that, its up to you. Everything else will help reduce time, but not that much compared to tires and shocks. Hope that helps.
