You can TIG weld the cast, look way back on the first post, I made a JIG and welded up my stockers. Around 45*. Same as these street brackets.

With the steering angle at 45, with stock lower arms, you can keep your front sway bar. It will also make you feel like you cant spin out You have to re-teach yourself the limits of angle.

The wheels pictured are 17x9 +20mm offset with a 5/16 spacer and extended studs. Plenty of clearance with 255/40's, other than a slight rub on the inner fender plastics. And I tried to take the pics as subjectively as possible, same distance away, same height, and center line of the wheel for each one. I cant wait to throw on my 66'ers now and weld up the cage and front end!!

I actually have my stock welded uprights laying around if anyone wants them.

PM sent about those uprights.

I love the build man! I'll have to throw up some pics of my WS6 at some drift events. Tough keeping up with the 240's and AE86's without proper steering angle. I can do it...I'm just not sideways enough.

So if ive already got aftermarket rims, and the fronts seem to rub when turned in, will they for sure rub even worse with the 45* set?

I want these so bad

I have nothing but good things to say about the varishocks...after I had the front two rebuilt. After contacting Chris Alston Chassisworks because I noticed they were leaking a bit of oil they rebuilt em for free and sent em back to me and haven't had a bit of trouble since...been 3 years about 12-15K miles and dozens of autocrosses and multiple drift events and they are still awesome shocks. A bit harsh ... at least in the rear where there used to be bushings there are now rod end bearings and the springs are stiffer (about 3 times stiffer in the rear). The front coilover conversion kit that came from Varishock is probably not so harsh it mostly the back now that I'm thinking about it. So I think that for the money you prolly can't do much better.

Rub where? On the fender well or the A arm? I imagine on the fender with a lower offset than stock. That's what you want. Guy's, we have a very nice wheel offset calculator in the wheel/tire section. Your benchmark for the 45's is 17x9 +13 mm. And that clears with about an inch on the A arm with 255's

It rubs on the fender well. The wheels are 18x9 with like a +45 offset or so?
Edit: just found that calculator. Im going to have to re-measure my rims, if they really are 45...im going to need some new rims.

Yea, the 18's will probably do that, even at +45. I'd suggest something in an 18X7 up front with 30-20 offset. 30 will pull the outer in while 20 will leave it the same. Then you use the ones you have up front for more spare rear tires!!

this is great ive been contemplating modding my spindles for some time now but you have already done the r&d and they look like very nice pieces and just in time for tax returns will the 45* kit work on a lt1 car and does the kit come with everything or what would be needed to get it back on the road

It would work on an LT1 car if you swap to the LS1 uprights. Ive never owned an LT1 4th gen so I dont even know what the uprights look like. I can always send you a bracket to see if it will bolt on though.

Sorry for the lack of progress lately, and overall, been focusing on getting my FFL this past month. Back to the car once I get all these orders filled for the deltawing though

Not to bring up an old topic, but:

How close to flush are you on the outside of the fender? Any more room to be had by taking out offset? Curious about stuffing some 275's on an 18x9-9.5'' with your super awesome 45* kit.

Also a bit off topic; how'd you manage to find that hood? Seems like I've been searching for ages!

Great build page, nothing but good things to say! Any updates coming soon? I'm living vicariously through you until I finish my LS6 swap

I found my hood by searching the classifieds everyday lol. One guy in this thread has one FS right now though:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-cla...od-pewter.html

The 17X9 +13mm is flush with a 255/40, it could come out a little bit and not look silly like the mustangs and FRS's though. Function>From though.

The update Ive been working on is that they now all work with stock lower A arms. Still had issues with the 66's hitting the sway bar mount so Ive made some angled inner tie rod deals. I'll be final fitting them saturday. And welcome to the board!!

Is there any modicum of hope for a wider rim/tire combo? Thinking about autoX application for the 45's; extra angle on a technical course always helps. As far as your big angle kit is concerned, I'm looking for a junky missile car roller as we speak

This... This is pleasing news. Thanks! Made my account when I found this build by accident about two months ago, been following it since. I appreciate the hood share too, I wish it was closer! Still considering it for such a great price.

I gotcha. I would think in that application you will never really even approach the limits of the steering. The only problem with more offset is going to be the tire getting into the front bumper. A little less offset will cure that, but give up some on the inside. To be honest, with the stock lower control arm and my wheels (17X9 +13mm and 255/40's) they scrub, but not hard. With the Spohn lower, theres an inch+ of clearance, and thats on the 66*. I'll throw a 45* on the passenger side that still has the stock lower arm and a stock 17X9.5 with a 275 on it and take some pics if you want. That way you can be the judge.

Pardon a "stupid question" from a Drag Racer . . .

What kind of facility was that video shot at ?

The reason I ask is that I can't imagine many places liking "black stripes" all over their parking lot, ESPECIALLY after it has been "freshly sealed".

Drifting looks like "fun", but I prefer "traction" . . . LOL !

I'd like to see that as well. Also, thanks for sharing the FS thread. Still haven't found a local buyer.
