All of those are great choices. I am currently using a full face Bell (the name escapes me right now, I'll post it if I can remember it or find the box...I'm thinking that it is a racestar III) and really like it. I've not needed to test this one yet, so I can't comment on actual performance (and I'd like to keep it that way). Someone once told me "If you have a $100 head....you use a $100 helmet". Good luck.

Where can I get one of these $10 helmets
(local strip requires Snell 90 or better)?

Face it, if I -need- that helmet in an
upside-down convertible at 100MPH, I'll
be a head in a jar afterward and worth
about $10 (jar included) regardless of
the jar's original price.

Seriously, where to go for a new, cheap,
"good enough" Snell rated racing helmet?

Jimmyblue, With GForce, $150-250 will get you an open face (GF 750), hybrid (Pro Force Hybrid), or full face helmet(GF 950 or Pro Force 1).

With Bell, $200-250 will get you an open face (Mag 4) or a hybrid (SR Pro).

These are all Snell SA2000 rated, and $150 was the absolute bottom I found anywhere, although I wasn't bottom fishing. You can spend a lot more of course. I set a budget cap of $250, and ended up ordering the GForce Pro Force Hybrid for $200. We'll see...

Thanks. I found a GForce GF800 (plain Jane
full face) for $129 which I guess is pretty
not-bad of a price and ordered it up from
Henry MotorCar.

... IMHO - helmets should be tried on in person so you get the best fit possible.
No matter what you spend for a helemt, but if it don't fit, it won't work right.

Arai Astral Kenny Roberts replica full face(from my sportbike days)black with a red hawk's head on each side. Big bucks for it though. $545.00

But damn comfy if your wearing it alot. Plus it fits well with my black Firehawk with red decals.

I remember goin through helmets like crazy back when I was riding dirtbikes. Make sure you have something that fits snugly but not too tight. Ya don't want it to be loose... but then again, you don't want it cutting off circulation. Also I'd tend to recommend a full face model, but that's just my .02. Just make sure you've got one when you're racing.

I'm glad I tried mine on before buying it. I bought the largest helmet that Bell makes (non special order that is) and it is snug (I used to work for Jegs High Performance and had to send a friend into the warehouse special to find it for me...they had one in stock). Guess I have a big mellon. But I measured and thought I needed a size or so smaller, but this fits properly. (Make sure you can't "roll" the helmet off your head with the strap fastened. Grab the back and try to pull it off your head by rolling it over your face....if it moves very far....buy a smaller helmet). Good luck.
