Default Pony car road racing on the Speed Channel

I posted on a previous thread but for you pony car guys wanting to see the only non tube frame pony car road racing on television, its on Tuesday December 5th at 1 p.m eastern time on the Speed Channel. Its SCCA's national Runoffs races from Hearland Park, in Topeka Kansas that was raced in late October. They are airing the AS (american sedan) race at 1pm eastern time. This is a camaro/firebird vs. mustang/capri class. The SCCA Runoffs are advertised as the olympics of amateur road racing.

Now that the Trans Am series is dead, there is not even tube frame pony car racing on TV anymore.

There were two trans am races this year at Heartland Park. Not televised as it was an attempt by Ray Irwin, the owner of Heartland Park, to maintain the trans am series as the longest running road racing series in history. He had a decent turnout of cars but without any tv coverage there wasn't many people in the stands. He did keep it alive for another year hoping someone will pick up the series and make it as big as it used to be.

Get that Shrek looking Gentallozi out of the picture and it might happen.

He's doing for Indy cars what he did for Trans AM ... helluva track record

I always thought of him as Bluto from Popeye. But Shrek works too.

This not entirely true, the IROC Series still use tubular Chassied Firebirds Trans Am. However they do not have any badging or pontiac/firebird references or decals.

Yes, true, I was thinking about that also, but this being the road racing section I felt IROC did not count. They do not run any road courses anymore in that series, right? (They SHOULD, those things would be cool going left and right again!!)
