Default Rocker Arms to replace YT Ultra Lites?

Need rockers to replace YT ultra lite 1.7 rockers, what rockers would you recommend for use with .617" lift cam?
FYI, I want to keep the cost under $700!

Thanks!

Besides one of them breaking (today), nothing.

Are the Comp Cams Ultra-Gold Aluminum, or Pro-Magnum Roller Rocker any good?

have you contacted YT? i had one break earlier in the year, and chances are yours was from the same "bad batch". i contacted YT directly and they sent me out an entirely new SET at no cost and was here in a week. no questions asked!

See the thing is I bought them probably 7yrs ago, but I just installed them in February 2011. So I doubt they would do anything.

You would be surprised, I bet they will. If you bought them that long ago you definitely have the old revision.

Yeah, a loud pop, followed the sound of your engine running on 7 or less cylinders!

There are a number of reasons why the rocker may have broke, none of which have to do with the rocker. You may want to check a few things before putting money into rocker arms.

1. Did you set the rocker wipe during installation?

2. What is the retainer to valve seal clearance?

3. What is the pushrod to rocker clearance?

4. What is the rocker to retainer clearance?

5. What is the coil bind clearance?

6. What is the pushrod to head clearance?

This makes me wonder about the "bad Batch" of 2009. Maybe it is more to do with proper setup, which makes me wonder why YT doesn't improve their installation instructions.

I was thinking stockers with the comp bearing upgrade. I hear much more about problems with aftermarket rockers breaking than oem, although bearing failure does happen (but rarely). The comp bearing upgrade with the stock rockers seems like a good compromise if you are not looking for 900hp and the price is right. That is my plan at least.

I have stockers with the upgrade on 2 engines. I daily driver small .600 cam and mine .650 7500 rpm. No problems.

My understanding is you'll have accelerated valve tip, seal, and guide wear when using the "stockers" with lifts over .600", I'm at .614" int. and .617" on the exh..
If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I would not personally install stock rockers with a high lift on AFR's with the bronze guides.

I had to do quite a bit to get my geometry correct on my AFR heads.

1. Did you set the rocker wipe during installation?
Yes,I set the wipe patterned and got it centered, with about 1/16" wipe.
2. What is the retainer to valve seal clearance?
Don't know exactly, but I did take it through it's full range of motion with checker springs on it, and i do know it was more than 1/16".
3. What is the pushrod to rocker clearance?
Don't know exactly, but I did take it through it's full range of motion with checker springs on it, and it looked good. With no signs of wear on PR's or rocker body.

5. What is the coil bind clearance?
Good, (about 1/10")I checked the seat height with a spring seat micrometer, and shimmed it to the recommended spring seat height according to PACs specs for the 1521 duals.
6. What is the pushrod to head clearance?
Don't know exactly, but I did take it through it's full range of motion with checker springs on it, and it looked good. With no signs of wear on the side of PR's[/QUOTE]

Any opinions on the COMP Cams Ultra-Gold™ Aluminum Rockers, the Crane Cams Gold-Race aluminum rockers, and also the Lunati Voodoo LS Series Adjustable Twin Shaft Rocker Arms?

FYI, I'd like to get my car back on the road very soon!
Also I just found out that the Recommended maximum spring pressure is 425 lbs for the YT ultra lites.

Even if they do wear the guides faster they don't break like alum ones do. They are lighter.
Lots of RPM issues are fixed by installing stock rockers.

If I had to put guides in after 75k I would not be upset but having to keep a spare in the trunk and replace them every 8 months I would be pissed.

My valve train guy is not had customers calling with problems and he has guys putting lots of miles on stuff.
