Good idea, plus you can see the cam lobes through the lifter bore.

Old Futral cam. Guy complaining about a whining noise. He pulled the cam and found ridges in the cam lobes. Sounds familiar

Default whining

My EPS grind whines also it is a Comp core I think, Talked to Geoff at EPS and all he would say was check oil filter for metal and then pull cam.

I think its very odd no venders or manufacture's are chiming in on this long and growing thread makes me wonder!!!

This was about 7-8 years ago. it came to be known that cam motion had a run of bad cores that got ground and were shipped out. they replaced all the cams for free and have had no more issues. this seems to be an entirely different problem

All who have the noise and haven't posted a video, I think it would be beneficial.

If only 1-2 of us have videos we don't have much. But if a bunch of us start posting videos of the identical noise, it's going to help out a lot more.

I keep forgetting to make a video...

Im thinking of pulling the heads and checking/changing the lifters to see if that helps, because my cam was used, and the guy I got it from swears he never had any whining noise from it. So im thinking maybe a lifter got spun around and isn't sitting right.

Might can talk the wife into some CNC'd heads too! just tell her it might help..

now that I think about it, I did have a lifter that wouldn't stay up when I was doing my swap so I had to hold it up with a magnet to get the cam out and in. I bet it didn't sit back down in there right! Just a thought

I bought a diff from someone that swore it didn't whine either . It howled so loud when I put it in, you would have thought my car was a 747.

I hope it is just a lifter...easier than a cam swap.

Just is just a thought.....

Wasn't there a thread on here a while back about lunati cams and a core plug in the center of the cam or something to do with the hollow portion of the cam.

Yeah it's just impossible to prove.

Something could be just slightly off, but still within their specs.

I'm gonna see if I can work with Lunati about me swapping a stock cam in to see if the noise disappears.

If only the pics still loaded, it might be a key.

"I put a Cam Motion grind in my car, and had the blower whine. It started at about 12-1300 rpm and continued on up. I recently swapped the CC cam back in, and the whine went away. Has to be something Cam Motion is doing. I was planning to mike the cam today as compared to the stock cam and inspect the lobes more closely. Will let ya'll know what I see."

I guess when I find a set of 243s I'll swap my shitty 853s out and replace the lifters. Also check the cam at the same time.

Cool Colt.

If it was warm out, I would already have news for you guys. Once it's reasonably warm out, I will swap in a stock cam and make another video.

LOL and you're in GA. I went to GSU and the winter never really got under 45-50 degrees.

We're about to get hit with 6-10 inches again.

FML.
