New Pics of the old F13 carnage.

Cant say for certain, but if you look at the closeups, youll see the tooling marks from how the cam was ground. The cam whined like I had a blower under the hood. Its pure speculation, but i think the whine may have been the lifter rollers traveling over the small ridges (tooling marks) and that what eventually broke through the case hardening on the rollers. My comp grind is now in the car and its perfectly smooth on the lobes, and no more fake blower whine.
Ive got an email in to Allan to see what he thinks was the cause.

Do you have access to any equipment that will measure the surface roughness of the cam lobe where this is no damage or the roller hasn't gone over it? The photo's also seem to show the roller caused a rut in the lobe peaks, is that the case or is it just the photo?

As for the rut, yes, the rut was caused by the worst of the trashed lifter rollers. It looks to be about .003 - .005 deep, just by eyeballing it.

I cant believe how much harder this lumps and how much louder the exhaust is over the f-13. Although the ported heads and raised compression probably helped as well. Feels a little mushier down low but again this could be due to the heads. The engine free revs so much quicker than before though (like when rev matching).

Id say with the bad cam lobe cut possibly some metal flaked off the cam lobe then made its way to the lifter where it then caused the roller to essentially lock up... This would generate a huge amount of friction and of course premature failure. I think you have certainly found the source of your misery and many other F-cam users....
