I'm trying to get ideas for the best RACE oriented exhaust set up for my application. Racers, what exhaust/mufflers system are you running on your race car? I'm running Kooks 2" headers w/3.5" collectors, btw. Please post pics of your set up. Thanks in advance.

Fabbing it up this weekend but will be SE 1 7/8" to 4" merge to Dynomax 4" bullet. Should breath well and lighter than a true dual setup. The only thing lighter would be just some 18" extensions off headers
Gonna look like this...https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...jVlD185FTQPNqQ post #3

Mines not a race setup at all. But I've been wanting to change things up for some time. I think we're running the same headers. 2" kooks with 3.5" collectors. I have the stainless kooks y pipe that bolt up to the headers. 3.5" inlets and a 4" outlet with a 4" cutout right past the merge. I've been tossing around the idea of doing a custom built 3.5" y-pipe with a 3.5"-4" fm merge and a 4" bullet muffler dumped. Anyone seen anything like this?

I also like this true dual setup to work with a chasis mounted torque arm.

Also wonder if it would be worth doing 3.5" duals at our power level?

I know Kooks headers no longer make their 3.5" to 4" Y pipe in which I wanted to run.
I may just run somekind of lightweight race mufflers, like Vibrant right off the collectors and call it day. I just want something to mellow out the open headers somewhat.

4" downpipe to a cutout then tapering down to a 3" magnaflow catback exhaust. It's no race car but it does ok

Looks really restrictive to me. I'm pretty sure the OP is looking for high flowing setups.

I would like to see how low that is to the ground once the car is on the ground. I like it but think some style of bullet mufflers would work better

^^^^^Nice! Hows the ground clearance on this exhaust system? Which headers are you running? Kooks?, ARH?

Not sure yet on this system but my last setup was just about the same and it had about 4-5 inches of ground clearance. Worked out good just had to watch out for some speed bumps. Could get a little bit more clearance with a bullet style muffler. The headers are a old old set of victor race headers I have had for years. Just welded some v-bands on and took them to a local guy to get coated.

Run the headers the other way and no clearance issues. Good for race car.

Plenty of room in front of front tire for a collector muffler.....

^^^Thats actually a very nice set up. No noise inside cabin, less vibration, and it looks mean with the big pipes sticking out like that. Those have to be custom headers, correct? I like the concept very much.

I'm more concern where the Xpipe to ground clearance is at. It looks like that would be the lowest part of the exhaust system. It looks great otherwise.

^^Thats Nice too! How did you clear the driver side muffler from the floor pan? I know it has that bump there for the trans crossmember mounts.
