Default Finally doing heads w/sns3 Now with results!

So I finally have all the parts needed to swap my cylinder heads from the 243s to tea tfs 215s with the metal guides.
I am swapping my ls7 lifters for Johnson's 2116LSR
Will be measuring for new pushrods (going with 11/32")
Keeping my stock rockers with the trunions upgraded
felpro 1041 gaskets at .041
The heads have 57cc chambers

I cant seem to find my cam specs so I cant figure out my dynamic compression anyone have the specs of the standard lobed tick SNS 3?

I am thinking about porting my intake myself, not sure if its worth it.

Before

NA (on nitrous timing)

On 150 shot

This is what I am getting then for my numbers: Anyone care to check that? Seems like it will work out very well for me!

I am hoping that those numbers of 50 and 30 are true! that would be awesome! I would also like to spin it slightly higher with the more stable valvetrain too. Maybe even a little more with the intake porting?

Static compression ratio of 10.88:1.
Effective stroke is 3.16 inches.

You should be close to where I am now then, maybe 10 second time slip with the auto! I plan to get it torn down and back together the weekend of October 7th, and get the pushrods in that week after measuring. Not sure if I will be able to get it tuned before winter storage but I will try.

Nice choice on heads. You should pick up quite a bit.

I've posted this a few places but for what it's worth we put a SNS3 cam in our C5 this summer with stock 241 heads and LS6 intake and picked up 57 to the wheels. 429 NA on a dynojet. Our hope is 10s NA also with an auto. Throttle response is amazing with this cam and with our Yank SS4000 and 3.90 gear it's very, very quick leaving.

BTW, cam loves nitrous too. With our NANO kit and 150 jets it will be over 600 to the wheels.

Yep! My current set up is in sig, my best was a 10.90 on the nitrous with not confident shifting (stock trans) and a 1.9 60'. Kinda funny how similar power we made numbers wise! I know all dynos read differently but still. I went from a sleeper cam only setup (not even exhaust) that made 360/330 to that and the difference was amazeballs. Cant wait to see what this does!

I made a few inquiries to some shops to tune, a couple no replies and then one phone call to go over everything and a quote via email through someone else did not even make an effort to cover a couple of questions I asked. So needless to say I will be going with the shop who decided to call and form a rapport with me.

So I have everything assembled and measured for pushrod length. I am coming up with just under 16 turns on the comp cams checker (15 3/4) so my over all length at zero lash is 7.5875. From what I have gathered the Johnson lifters like .035 on preload. Putting my overall length to 7.6225. I did every single valve and came out with the same number of turns on the push rod, does that seem right?

Your numbers seem very realistic. Johnson lifters seem to end up with longer pushrods.

[rant]
But, please, please, please, please, for the love of Mike, if you're gonna spend $500 on lifters and another $xxx on pushrods, and the $xxxx for the heads, spring for a 8 or 12" digital caliper and measure your pushrods directly. Then, when you order the pushrods, give them the lengths and specify "as measured with a caliper". You can then be *DEAD CERTAIN* about the numbers.

I'm curious how well this setup is going to work. I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised.

I am very curious as well! I was already impressed with the way it was before, a surprise with definitely be welcome.

Between the more stable valvetrain, going speed density, and the heads I think it should be a little more rev happy and also carry the power a little longer. Though I am getting rid of the tsp duals, going back to a y pipe and cat back because of the mess the dumps create

I took more pictures but in the true nature of technology my phones camera would not focus worth a damn

Did you check ptv? 57cc and a 235 on a 109 ICL is going to be close... with .041" gaskets.

Im assuming with the trickflows, itll allow a larger cam before any ptv issues arise
