Default Welding in EGR provision on passenger side for long tubes, can it be done?

Whoever owned my current WS6 before put long tubes on it without the EGR provision at the front of the Passenger side. It has the other air tube right behind it but not the larger on in the front. The pump and tube is still there but it's not connected to anything and nothing is there to connect to. Anyone know of a way to put weld it back on or a shop that could do it? I'm not really in the mood to put shorty's or manifolds on it to be honest. The current headers are Dynatech SuperMAXX and are stainless steel.

This is so annoying, I never noticed it and it's passed safety before and emissions. So I never even knew about it being disconnected, it's just my fun car so i'm not always messing around with it like I used to. I just want it to pass legally and not have to deal with it. Virginia is such a pain in the butt state.

If not I guess I will just sell them and put some shorty's on...which sucks.

Passenger side of that header only has the air tube in rear, there should be two of them.

Now that I take that picture I wonder if the guy just blocked it off and it's actually that little plate in the picture? I didn't see that until the photo....maybe? Maybe I just need some sort of extension?

okay so yeah it's the pipe, hidden below. I need some sort of extension to attach the floating pipe to the blocked off pipe (and remove the plate). Also have to turn back on the EGR pump the guy decided to unplug. So this isn't as bad as I thought...just need that extension. Woo good news

thx, the tube doesn't reach which is odd. Any idea where to buy an EGR extension? It's like 3 inches away from the EGR tube to the block off.

There are 2 different EGR pipes. One used on 98-99 models and a different one used on 00 models. Figure out which one you have and I'll bet you need the other one. They are both discontinued parts from GM but there have to be tons of them around that people have removed.

Nice thanks yeah it looks like the wrong EGR tube I need a 2000 EGR but my car is a 99..weird. My guess is that the car had the wrong headers put on it. So likely the 2000 model year Long tubes and this car is a 99, they probably fit and then the guy probably spent the night cursing that he couldn't' get the EGR to fit. I guess i'll never know since it was from a dealership.

Now the hunt is on to find a good 2000 year EGR thanks

I'm in va too. Just go to DMV and tell them you garage it in a county that doesn't require emissions. No emissions required then. They don't even ask for an address anymore.

Yeah I might consider that. But this was a friggin safety inspection, same station I had it checked at before. This guy was a pain in the ***. Apparently they check for EGR even on safety, I tried to argue...he DGAF.

btw which County doesn't?, Loudoun is the devil.

Cheapo headers w/ EGR nipples often fail there.
You want a "saddle fitting" to take the fatigue.
Tube-into-tube is doomed.

Can you get passed, with a right-enough-looking
fake? Like a tube from EGR port down to the
header that just ends "out of sight"?

EGR doesn't really care where in the pipe the gas
comes from. You could get a fat 3-bolt flange
spacer (like, a cast-off cutout body), tap one of
the holes for a tubing adaptor and run fat fuel line
(or cut-to-length aluminum, with proper ends)
end to end and have an obviously / demonstrably
functional plumbing, without buggering the header.

Just some stray thoughts.
