Default Snapped strange axle in 2 Midwest chasing 9 inch

I went to the track last night and second launch with the 2 step set at 5400 with 28x10.5 slicks my axle broke big time . It's a practivally new Midwest chassis 9 inch and my car only makes 440 rwhp. I thought these rears were bullet proof? Any ideas why it broke?

Holy crap, 440 rwhp can do that?. Looks like you found the statistical anomaly in axle manufacturing defects. Interested to see what MWC says.

Looks like it could have been from bad wheel hop. At least that would be my guess.

Edit: OP this is kind of a bad deal, I think the 35s should have held up Sucks when parts break that shouldnt.

Looks like 35 and bust in this case. He made that clear twice already before your response.

OP, assuming you are manual trans? Those strange street axles obviously aren't strong enough. Mine is auto with the same 35 spline S/S axles, but still i'm afraid of it now as im running a spool, I think i'm going to swap them out very soon for MW's or put on floater ends.

Strange markets a 1000hp street/strip axle that is breaking on people with less than 500rwhp. The OP isn't the first one either, as I learned after doing a quick google search. Seems quite a few people bend them on the flange also.

I'm not for bashing suppliers, but something that is a safety issue like axles they should get their **** together and look at why their street/strip 1000hp axles are bending and breaking on such low HP cars. Or rate them for 450hp and tell people to use their race axles instead for anything more serious and call it a day.

Had I did more research I would never bought Strange S/S axles. Hopefully a pair of MW's pro street axles will give me more confidence with a full spool without needing to go floater ends.

Maybe Strange is not aware of the 60ft potential of these cars or what the LS is capable of in the f-body with torque arm and their S/S axles just aren't up to the task for these cars.. HP ratings aside. Mine rips the street tires like a big block, and it's still only a cam-only turd. I'm afraid now to put slicks on it and race it with these axles after doing some google searches and seeing these S/S axles failing on people with less than 450rwhp. If an axle breaks on the flange..

yeah it's a m6 456 gears and 28x10.5 bias launched at 5500 and didn't go anywhere lol. I'm hoping strange will replace them. I have a Moser 12 bolt and it's held up 10 times better than this 9 inch. It's taken 10 times more abuse with slicks only problem I had out of the 12 bolt was noisy gears due to stretching.

There is a big misconception of HP breaks parts, there is multiple things that can break parts one of them being vehicle weight, wheel hop, or just plain abuse. There is thousands among thousands of cars that have the street strip axles in them without issue. As for the suggestion of using the race axles, they are not recommended for street use for any street driven vehicles.

Now to the issue at hand, a broken axle has nothing to do with the housing itself as it is a broken axle from Strange. If you message me your name so I can look up your order I would be more than happy to look at everything you have and know who I am talking with. You mentioned having a Wavetrac and it has been some time since we have sold one of those with our housings. Ever since the Strange S-Trac came out that is all we have sold.

For a manual car, excessively hard hitting clutch should be at the top of the list. Fix that and vehicle weight won't matter much, also far less chance of inducing wheel hop.
