Default I'm back! 2001 Trans Am WS6!

Well guys I am back. About a year ago I said goodbye to my 02' Z28 M6. I needed a family car as I am in a serious relationship and have a, now, 4 year old. So I got a 03' 540i M-sport M6! Wasn't fast but it was fun! I then got a 535i with the famous N54 and did some minor bolt ons and had a 400+ hp daily driver sedan lol. But I missed my F-body. The lack of refinement is what I missed. I missed the lopy idle too. The power was awesome and it handled decently too. My camaro was a little rough around the edges with the front bumper not being painted and alot of scratches etc. However this T/A is super clean. I was super surprised. It does have a hydrolocked LS1 and it shot a rod through the block. Since this isnt my daily driver though, I am going to wait a bit to acquire a LS3 and do a decent sized cam. Just wanted to share with you guys and say that when you do the right thing for the right reasons, your decision will be blessed.

Guessing since its hydro locked and you're from Houston its a flood car? If it is I would check under the carpet for any dampness and get rid of the carpet before you get mold.

Thanks for the tip! However, I bought this car from north Texas! He had the exact same story I had with my camaro when I was in east Texas. Basically his cowl leaked onto the engine during a bad rain storm and when he went to start it up Monday morning, it broke the rod. Like literally the exact same thing that happened to me! So learn from us and check your cowls for leaking on any 4th gen!!!

I see your 01 has the early wheels. Do you know its build date by chance?

How the heck does water leaking in through the cowl (I assume you are referring to the cowl at the bottom of the windshield) get into the cylinders when the air intake is clear up at the front of the engine? Even if the car experienced 100+ MPH wind-blow rain from the front, the throttle plate is closed and would (should) prevent large amounts of water from getting past it. That explanation lacks credibility in my mind.

In any case, it looks like you have a clean starting point for your build. Good luck with it.

certain conditions would have to be met but its entirely possible. Most of those conditions involve a vacuum leak at an injector seat or around the AIR system on the back of intake or even a bad gasket seal between it and the heads. Any of these would allow water through the intake bypassing the throttle body and into the combustion chamber. Its kind of a perfect storm scenario, but if enough water was pooled ontop of the intake it could happen.

Its very easy.....the plastic intake isn't sealed when its cold and the water walks right on in like cops on bust. I seen this exact thing so many times its ridicules. Takes all of 10 mins to seal the cowling and then check it with a garden hose. !st time it happened to me I was WTF just happened???? engine locked up then BAM started. Didn't break anything but I knew something was way wrong. Just happened it rained the night before. My intake bolts were tight but the intake was loose...........now if you can't guess why then you won't get any of this.

Looks like you got a pretty clean car to start with. Not easy to find them so clean these days.
