My 2011 non DOD 6.2 sierra was as good or better on fuel than any 5.3 I had. And WAY more power. Hook a trailer to it though and it'll get thirsty quick. That was still one of my favourite trucks.

No, I don't think it will. I think it'll be about the same. Torquey **** also. The long tubes are a great idea too for low end torque, even though they're typically associated with top end power.
My S10 went from a 4.3 (180hp) 4l60e @14mpg to 17mpg, Swapped in LY6 with LSA supercharger LS9 cam and Tr6060 6spd E85 and now guess I should be in the 550hp range(crank hp) and get similar gas mileage. I'm not complaining lol
Similar experience here. Mine went from the carbureted 2.8 getting 17 mpg to a iron 6.0 with LS2 top end getting 22 mpg at 4x the power on 30's
Someone mentioned the 6-speed auto -- i've never driven one, but I can imaging how much better that is assuming they addressed the huge 1-2 drop in the 60E
So if you had a 6.0 or 5.3, and wanted a near-factory lift and slow lifter ramp for stock lifters on a camshaft with around 220* @0.050, more on intake mostly on intake,
what camshaft would you look for and acquire, how would this happen
Actually what I am thinking is something with enough lift to be compatible with a PAC1218 spring, to take full advantage of any additional lift above factory possible using the OEM lifter but also not quite the maximum. Lets say 50 to 75% of the max allowable lift possible using OEM head/lifter. I just start at the bottom (Lowest possible lift) and work the way up.
Then, dont forget mostly on the intake side. so like 228/220

Our high lift hot cam does that. But imo the power band isnt made for a truck or towing.

Exactly what you're asking about. Note the torque peak. The higher duration you go normally moves peak power up so to speak and isnt made for towing. Even trying to use a more narrow lsa youll increase overlap and do the same thing.

Thats it. All together that load was just shy of 21k lbs. hauled it 5 hours one way. The tires made a HUGE diff. Some very nice 10ply Continental hwy tires. Got it up to 75 on the interstate also. Lots of hills too. No issues and ac on the whole time.
He was chasing a frog. I had no issues. That was 3 years ago. That is the heaviest ive hauled in quite some time but i have hauled more with that truck and trailer combo. Most of the time its way less. My white 05 xcab 4x4 has hauled 17k worth of hay a couple times a year on 4 hour trips to my ranch also.
I have an all steel car hauler also i use for many chores besides just hauling cars around as well.
Im no hot shot or expert by any means, but ive been doing it so long i can tell you the capabilities of em.
Both will be getting 370s likely with some other upgrades soon. The 5spd manual is by far the best for heavy loads but the single cab sucks for it so its a trade off. That gooseneck trailer alone weighs ALOT.

Yes! If anything building for torque you’d want high lift short duration. Like the XER lobes almost. Or like you suggested in tbecstealth thread, high ratio rockers
