Default Made 680whp today - vs gt3582 trans am

Figured I’d make a build thread, even though it won’t be anything special. I picked this car up cheap, $2000. Runs and drives but 3-4 is slipping, Bolton car with a yank 3600 stall. Cam with a nice cam as well. 3.42 rear

Edit: made 680whp with a 10.0 afr and 5500rpm on 19#

Ill be honest here, the car is rough, and I have ZERO issues with chopping stuff out to make room. So if this bothers you, it’s the wrong thread for you lol.

sold the cam and stall and bought my turbos.

Plan after talking to a few helpful gentlemen here is twin 3582 billets from vs Racing, $292 each shipped. Rev 9 intercooler $170. Stock 80e I already had with an hd2 kit, going to get the car up and running on a set of 42# gtp injectors and a stealth 340 pump, pump gas setup. I’ll be upgrading to 80# shortly, as well as br fpr as soon as I can.

i just finished my tubular front end structure, obviously still have to tie in the bumper itself to the structure, and build headlight mounts. But I’m very pleased With the outcome for $29 worth of material. Trying to keep this all under $1500. $2000, max. Planning on a real simple pipe routing setup. Turbos mounted andndischarge directly into the IC, downpipes down and back to the 3” y pipe (going to run a 3” cutout right at each turbo also)

then drains to the front cover. Researching what to do with my fuse blocks and harness now.

Dont you mean your hitch mounted tube bending machine?

What was the deal with the shaker scoop on that thing? What was it bolted to? I'm assuming it did nothing functional. Are you going to keep it or do simething with it on the build? Lol at a ram air/Shaker air intake combo. Sucks in cold air and then shoots it at the windshield.

Yup, sounds about right haha. Got one to do for my buddies iroc, doing that same thing lol. Not sure on the shaker, people seem to be 50/50 on it, one guy hates it, one guy loves it. I’m indifferent, but I do plan to replace it when I paint the car someday.

Well I got a nice little Christmas bonus I wasn’t expecting, so I may go a touch over budget if you count the tires and wheels.

ordered a set of 15x10 5.5” bs and 17x4.5 Jegs spikes, set of front runners and a set of 28x10.50 eat street r tires, as well as all my turbos, intercooler, gates, bov, flanges, and pipe kit. Also ordering a set of deka 80’s. Which brings me to my next point, I want to run a Wally 450 in my stock bucket. I read, that If you drill out the stock Venturi, they regulator will flow enough. Anyone done this or tried it?

Since I’m using the stock 80e converter, would there be any benefit to running this msd 2 step on the car set at like 2k? Really want be able to see positive pressure on launch

Well figured out my accessories, easy enough. Now, this freaking wiring. I just can’t bring myself to not do anything with all this crap, I’ve gotta move it somewhere. But it looks like it’s going to be a nightmare. Time to read I suppose

You should have no issues seeing positive pressure at launch. The 7875s light off really quick I think your main concern will be holding it back.

Thats excellent news. I spoke with a guy today who had a stock cam and converter 5.3, with an 80 and sloppy spool mod and a gt45, and he said he could get around 2500 rpm and 3-4# on that setup, with no effort in the tune to help spool up. So that makes me happy. My down pipe idea is going to be real problematic it seems. No room anywhere with the stock k to send pipes backwards

Well I figured out my down pipe situation. If I run the manifolds forward and up, I can go under the manifolds with plenty of room. Unfortunately I absolutely hate the forward and up look, but it’s all I’ve got at this point, so we are going with it. Might even be able to put the alt back and change the accessories back to stock this way. Tires and wheels and turbo and intercooler should be here Thursday and Friday, can’t wait. These 15x10 with 5.5” bs should have a giant lip and look gorgeous

Well my “front runners” showed up today. Wheels and back routes tomorrow, turbos and intercooler Friday. Pyper approves of the tires.

Also, in the spirit of budget, I’ve been searching. For a cheap priced 3” mandrel exhaust bend kit. Of course, cheapest I can find is 3-$400. So, I’m using aluminum. $80 for a n assorted bend and straight 3”
Mandrel aluminum pipe kits on eBay. I’ll use the steel pipes I already have right off the turbo, and for the first bend, then go to aluminum. Saves myself $2-300 and weight. Winning

My 8.8 tq arm mount showed up also. Lots to do. Going to run a stock width explorer 31 spine rear. That’s why I ordered the 15x10 with 5.5bs, the explorer rear is 4” give or take narrower.

I thought the explorers had an offset center section?
