Default LQ9 in a 2005 Mustang GT (S197)

Hey guys, a buddy of mine lost his 3v yesterday and he asked me what the best way to go would be. He does not want to go back 3v and it seems either the LQ9 or the Coyote is the way to go. The Coyote swap is crazy expensive compared to the LQ9.

What things should I look for to complete the swap?
Things I know that I need:
1. I found a harness & ECM from an LSX website
2. SN95 DS with different yokes
3. T56 w/GTO shifter
4. T56 custom cross member
5. C5 fuel regulator/filter
6. Custom headers

I have no idea if people have any headers for sale or a cross member?
The goal would be 450 rwhp on stock bottom end w/H/C/I. Any input or ideas? He would like to keep the build under $5k.

S197 is not a popular chassis for these swaps so you'll need to make custom mounts as there isn't a swap Kmember available...same for the headers(go turbo with truck manifolds). Depending on how much you get the LQ9 and the T56 for(manuals aren't cheap! I got my tr6060 for $1400 tho)...a basic cam only setup can be done for around 5k or less. HOWEVER......No One Sticks to the Plan and Be Ready to Crack your budget! lol

I'm slowly swapping my New Edge GT and 5k went out the window a long time ago lol

Header-wise would the truck manifolds work if we run some piping off of them? I definitely know about the motor/trans mounts. We will have to figure those out lol. I am hoping the T56 will be a relatively cheap find ($800-$1000). A stock rebuild plus cam and possibly P&P heads would be the route taken. Well my buddy hopefully can be ready to spend the money if need be. I am building the motor and if he wants more money in the motor I can see 450+ rwhp.

Piping off the truck manifolds has been done on budget and Big Power turbo setups for years, so yep! It's actually a cheaper alternative to longtubes in most cases. As for the T56 swap, even LT1 t56's aren't that cheap....that should tell you something lol. 6speed prices Skyrocketed once the ls swap craze got popular(every now and then some people get lucky and find one for cheap). Other than that...yall should be good to go!

Ok, this will be an NA car to start with. If the truck manifolds work normally with some piping that will work until boost. How much are T56’s, they should not be crazy money? Maybe?

Used Fbody T56's on Average are anywhere from $1200-$1500+ depending on mileage and who's selling it these days(even after they have been Beaten to near Death). Look around on car-part.com and Ebay(sometimes u can find one without a bellhousing for the Low, gotta be ready to pull the trigger Right Then and There). Got my tr6060 from LKQ for a Steal of a deal, imo.

I don't think so either...I figured they had a V6 trans and just got the car models mixed up. Rolled up to LKQ, checked it out...Low mileage trans out of a 2011 SS just like the description said! Another guy in a group on FB picked up an MG9 tr6060 for $1100 from some random junkyard in North Carolina :'( talk about Lucky.

We will check out LKQ and CL. We may have to find one for a steal if they are $1200+! Holy cow.

I hope things can go well and I will have time to make a parts list and a small write up. A guy on here has already installed an LS3 into an ‘08 GT, I hope he can chime in.

Is it possible to bolt an LS to the T5 that comes on the 4.0 V6 mustangs?
