Default Time to change up the interior

Going to go with a red and black theme with some billet accessories just like many have done before. I hope to complete all this in the next few weeks and will post pics. Shopping list:

3M DI-NOC GLOSS BLACK CARBON FIBER 4ft x 2ft roll to be used on gauge cluster bezel, door handle area, radio and HVAC trim, and headlight switch trim.

Billet E brake handle NRG HK-700SL
Billet HVAC *****
Billet Srpracing Pedals
Billet shift ****

REVi Motorwerks Carbon Fiber gauge overlay B-BZ-CH025-CF
Black Sun Visor Delete Plates

Red or white HVAC heater Control Overlay
Red or white A4 shift overlay
Red or white 150mph gauge overlay
Red or white headlight switch overlay

Red LED lights to replace stock bulbs in the 4 areas above

Clear gauge needles

redlinegoods ebrake boot
redlinegoods A4 shift boot
redlinegoods armrest cover

Going black with red piping on these

Custom lower door inserts using red allante material.

Then I just need to decide what to do for seats. Rather than modify the factory seats, I'd like to get a set of racing seats to accommodate a 5 point harness setup and then customize those to match the red in the car. Corbeau LG1's maybe.

Today I learned that hex head bolts can be a size smaller than 5/32" or 4mm. Inside the OEM radio, the bolts appear to be 3mm or 1/8". I ordered a mini socket set off amazon as none of the local stores carry anything that small. I'm wanting to change the LED's inside the radio to red.

Subbed in for the HVAC ***** too. Don't need a link, just want to know the brand.

Nice job on the parking brake. Hopefully it doesn't get too hot in the summer.

Those door panels look good! What have you done to the outside of the car to compliment the red/black interior? Remember, all bolts are metric on these cars and the thread pitches need to match up or you’ll be stripping mounts out.

The exterior of the car is black but all the suspension parts are red. I'll most likely keep it that way. I'm not wanting to go full all red seats, just various accents in the interior. The small bolts inside the radio are 1/8 SAE. (0.125") 3mm socket (0.118") doesn't fit them. 3.5mm (0.138") is too big.

Funny because GM used metric bolts on everything in the car . . .

A few comments and some progress pics

- 3M DI-NOC cannot be used because even with a heat gun, the trim peices have too many curves. Hydrodipping is the answer here.

-The REVi Motorwerks Carbon Fiber gauge overlay B-BZ-CH025-CF interferes with the movement of the gauge needles. I would not recommend purchasing it.

-The NRauto white gauge overlay scratches easily. I wouldn't recommend it. I'm waiting for 6LE to re-release the McNord type overlays in a few weeks and will go with a red design.

-Superbrightleds sent me a blue led by mistake which I currently am using in the shift plate...I'll most likely switch this out to red as well.

The redlinegoods ebrake boot fits well, but you need to cut your own holes in the boot to install it.

You cannot have a short shifter and a shift boot with piping because the boot binds up when shifting due to the shorter length of the stick. I tried cutting the boot and making it smaller, but that didn't work. To activate the shift mechanism, I just push down on the shift ****.

You can see how the short shifter looks below, I may keep it or go with a stock length shifter and the shift boot.

The door inserts using red allante material turned out well. When I had the doors off I changed out the window motors to c5 vette motors using custom mounting plates that were made by Lup.

I'm considering these Corbeau LG1's with an anti-sub slot.

Anyone else with a RLgoods center console cover have an issue with their console lock button sticking and catching on the leather a little bit? Dont get me wrong, quality product 110% satisfied. Just wondering how some people had the same problem.

Not yet, gotta stretch that cover on there nice and tight as I'm sure you saw.. I used pillars to do mine.

Stretched mine on pretty tight. It still functions, just not like before. This is how mine turned out.

I like how you overlayed carbon fiber on your gauge cluster, nice subtle touch. Also noticed that you listed clear gauge needles; where those installed and where did u get them?

The clear needles can be had from an Oldsmobile Silhouette or Venture at your local yard. You have to use the bases from your current needles though, as everything needs to weigh the same when you make the swap. To get the old needles out of the bases, you need to heat the secure points with a soldering iron. I haven't done the needles yet because I was waiting on 6LE to start offering the red overlays for the 4th gen again and I was going to install everything at once.

I have an extra set of white overlays for the HVAC and headlights that I'm looking to sell.
