So, I finally got an LS6 intake for my LS1. I plan on swapping it out myself as soon as the weather is suitable for working outside. I'm a little unsure about the torque on the manifold bolts. Since it's a composite material, I'm worried about over torquing the bolts and breaking something. Does anyone know what the torque should be on the manifold bolts? Is there anything else I should be careful with?
Intake torque sequence is starting in the middle, crisscross your way out to the ends. I'd post a picture, but for some reason I don't have the option on my phone.
Lol, to be honest, this is how mine is. I can't even get a torque wrench in the back lol. Mine also has Allen head bolts, so that makes it easier to do with a hex key.
Either way you'll be fine. They seal up regardless most of the time.
Did you guys go to great lengths to clean the runners? I got the main part of mine super clean but, the runners still have a little bit of funk.
If you consider replacing the stock intake with a FAST 102, then plugging off the PCV and installing a $1000 dollar vacuum pump great lengths, then yes. All the stock ones will get oil in them unless you install a catch can or do the vacuum pump. The pump is better overall for prolonging seal life and promoting ring seal, and serves as leak detection as well via the gauge.
I have to empty my puke tank every hundred miles or so though, because it will overflow and blow oil mist all around the area behind the headlight where it's mounted. It also pulls any fuel out that gets past the rings, so it usually looks like coffee creamer, and smells good, believe it or not... lol. Good if you like to run on the rich side

I was gonna put my LS6 manifold on tomorrow and was just curious how crazy I should get on cleaning the manifold up. I’ve got it pretty clean but, like I said There’s still a little crust in the runners. I have an AMW catch can I pulled off my old 5.3 I was gonna install too.

I would say so long as it's free of dust, metal, or other particles rock on. There's bound to be oil in there, and that can be near impossible to get all the way cleaned out unless you take the intake apart, which is pretty easy. Some compressed air goes a long way if you don't want to go all crazy cleaning it all out by hand. It's going to get more oil in there. That's how they are designed, for emissions and such. I guess dumping oil mist in the exhaust or out an overboard drain is frowned upon nowadays lol.
I got it done today. The weather was nice, so I took it for a spin afterwards. It chirps the tires shifting from 1st-2nd gear. I need to have Frost adjust that and check F/I mixture. After that, I should be ready to race.

Hell yea! I need To get on it. I had Frost set my tune for the LS6 when he flashed it. I’m kinda interested to see how much of a difference the manifold makes. I’ve only put 25 miles on the tune so far. Pretty pleased with it though. How did you end up clearancing the underside of the manifold?

reminder be very careful with the teeny tiny wire that goes from computer to back of intake sensor , mine broke during my swap and cost me a $100 for diagnosis.
