I use these ALOT. The o-ring seal is huge benefit. Check out my vacuum testing thread for some reasoning as to WHY I use them. https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...alve-body.html

Internal leaks, especially in the 3/4 clutch circuit and the TCC circuit are big issues with the 60e. I've vacuum tested many valve bodies and only about 5% get a passing grade without the end plugs.

I usually have 10 or 15 on the shelf at any given time.

Sounds like these should be a replacement staple any time a valve body comes out, whether for a trans rebuild or shift kit install. Relatively cheap insurance

I get a kit of 5 for like $22 from my trans supplier. I usually use 3 per build. For anyone that doesn't vacuum test, just go ahead and throw them in.

Also, the Rev. Abuse bore plug (sonnax oversize .001") with smaller roll pin hole helps alot of circuit leak as well. I usually don't use the whole valve, just the bore plug.

Always re-seat the 3rd accumulator checkball as well. You hardly ever need a new capsule, just reseat the stocker. Helps leaks in that area too.

Bookmarked and will be reading through it when I get a second.

Sounds good.

Would I order two of those, one for the reverse abuse and one for the 3-2 downshift valve or is blocking the 3-2 downshift valve something different?

I only use one. I use it behind the reverse abuse, which is in the same bore as the 3-2 downshift valve. That's where another 3rd gear circuit leak develops and is the reason I use the reverse abuse bore plug. It's to save 3rd, not reverse. I never need one in the forward abuse (the forward and reverse abuse use the same valve and plug).

Blocking the 3-2 downshift valve is done in the hd2 kit with a tight wound spring, essientially a spacer. This commands max speed 3-2 downshifts.

Here's a link to the reverse abuse plug that you can get without the kit:

Brothers from another mother. My 400 did this too me a few months ago (forward drum). So basically you are just out a drum and clutches?

Yes, the good thing is I have been spinning to 7000 and have been worried about my 3-4 clutch pack but none of the 3-4 clutches were bad. So that makes me feel good about my high rpm 4l60e.

Smoked the 2-4 brand tho from driving home after it happened. No 3-4 clutches and just the band holding in 4th.

Going to do a full rebuild anyway and add a few more things but all in all I'm happy with what I see wear wise because I really do **** pound this poor 4l60e.

That is what I'm pondering right now..... thought about it last rebuild also. To be honest I will probably just go with a new OEM input drum due to price and really probably should of replaced the input drum with a OEM last rebuild

But if this happens again, it will end up costing you more right? So, wouldn't the nice drum make sense since you are right here looking at it?

3 OEM input drums = 1 sonnax input drum lol

Prior to my last rebuild I got my transmission insanely hot and think the input drum was compromised. (Maybe I wrong) I do not think it will happen again with a new OEM input drum and the low tranny temps I'm running these days. Just my rookie opinion.

If you go OEM, at least you'll gain more rebuild experience every time you have to pull your trans to replace the input drum after it takes a ****

I'm guessing your vote is to go with the sonnax input drum?

I understand this was directed at the other poster, but fluid isn't free...clutches aren't free...bands and gaskets aren't either. I'm on a budget just like everyone else..... but often times it's cheaper to spend the money up front.... to save money down the road.

Ya, I definitely hear ya there. The sonnax drum looks like a seriously nice piece also.
