Default Texas Speed or Brian Tooley cam's?

Do you guys prefer camshafts from either one of these companies? I've heard positive things about BTR and mixed opinions on the TSP cams due to the reliability of them. I am on the fence between these two but wanted to check here before making a purchase. I am looking at a stage 3 cam from BTR or a 233/239 cam from TSP. Thanks for reading!

I think they're both great, and you can't go wrong with either. With that said I run a Howards cam custom speced by Thompson Motorsports and am very happy with that

Contact SRD Smallwood Race Development for a custom spec.

But to the point of your question. If I had to choose between BTR and TSP I'd choose BTR.

Working on building a low 11 second car for now, slowly but surely I'll get there. I've completed the full intake and exhaust, 3.73 gears, sub frame connectors, and just installed a yank ss3600 converter. Now I'm picking out a cam and later I'll do the heads. I only drive it on the weekends, so I don't mind it being a little aggressive.

For what you are trying to do either of those options would work very well for you.

There shouldn't be any issues with the reliability of our camshafts. Comp Cams no longer grinds cams for us. We now grind our own cams in house and quality control is of upmost importance. Please give us a call at 512-863-0900. We would be happy to go over your build and goals and lead you to the right combination that will work for you.

We will also match any advertised price.

To me someone who actually grinds their own cams wins every time in my book.

Coming from the guy who Comp no longer buys from, but TSP does, there might be some bias in this statement... lol

All BTR here.
Whether Comp or Cam motion does his grinds, you know they're gonna be right. What's important is the design of the grind. A custom grind isn't some mass produced grind getting shot out by the hundreds to Summit & Jegs.
BTR FTW!!

IMHO, look up the personal history of any you choose. You will see a much more extravagant resume' on one guy.

Brian Tooley is not only an expert in everything LSx, but he's also one of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to. He will take the time and get you setup with right cam and matching valvetrain products.

Nothing against your procedure but the cam should be the last step in the build, the heads will greatly effect the performance output of the engine, the cam could potentially be too much or not enough depending on the flow of the heads.

Just because a company grinds them, does not mean they do it well.

When I am choosing parts, I am never draw to the cheapest place around or the place that is just learning. I am after quality and experience.

You'll find plenty of happy people who've bought from one or the other, or both. I've personally had nothing but a great experience with Texas Speed over the last 9 years. Why? Simply because some of my friends around town had their products when I first got my car. If that hadn't been the case and I'd have gone with another sponsor, the results would have probably been the same.

Call them both and talk about stuff. You won't go wrong either way.

Love my BTR Stage IV. No matter what cam you go with, it will fall on how good your tuner is.

I wouldnt care about who grinds the cam.As long as I get great customer service in the event if something went wrong is where Im spending my money.I have nothing but good things to say about TSP and their products. They responded to my emails...helped me when I had a defective Asd pulley.

I just bought a set of BTR valve spring kit..I cant speak on service because I didnt get any.I emailed twice with no response to choosing what was best for my application and took advice elsewhere.Im trying their product solely on previous reviews on here.I dont forsee issues with the product but when I needed clarification from the vendor directly..I didnt get a response.

Having a good tune with a cam that compliments the rest of your setup will make the entire package run strong.

Can't go wrong with BTR/Cam Motion.
