Default Anyone have Frankenstein stage 1 243 heads?

Just looking for some results, preferably on an LS1. Frankenstein seems perfectly in the middle of best bang for the buck and best all out 243 heads with stock valves.

Check the classified section. I'm sure someone has some. You doing an ls6 cam too?

I'm interested in their heads on a ls1 as well. I would really like to see how their tfs casting heads do. It seems people these days put cheap heads on iron 6.0's and no one spends any money on the lil ole ls1 any more

Anyone know how these heads compare with say AI 243's?

All of these CNC ported stock casting LS heads are going to be within 5 to 15 HP of each other. Look at aftermarket castings.

I am really curious to how their tfs casting heads perform. They are priced a decent bit higher than tea tfs heads.

I am looking for results, not looking to buy used ones.

It sounded like you were looking to "get results", as in get the right parts to get the results. You are looking for "reports of results", just to clarify.

STOCK VALVE 243 HEADS

I have been researching 243 heads for a couple of years, constantly going back and forth between AI and TEA for the best all out heads, and Texas-Speed (PRC) as the best bang for the buck.

For stock valve size, Frankenstein heads are right between PRC and AI/TEA. What I find intriguing is that Frankenstein uses a smaller intake port than any of those three, AND they have higher flow numbers from .2 to .5.

This thread is specifically for 243/799 heads. Thanks for your input, but please keep on topic.

That's really interesting with the smaller intake port. At first I missed that these have the stock valve then realized it later. So for all competitive purposes it sounds like these would be more along the lines of the PRC stage 1 243's, but with the smaller intake port from what you're saying

Looking for input from an automobile owner of the General Motors family of 97-02 LS1 motors who has moved from LS1 heads to General Motors casting 243/799 heads ported/polished by Frankenstein Racing Heads to their Stage 1 specification.

yeah, me too. I mistakenly thought that these flow numbers were from their stage 2 work, not stage 1. Now that I have decided to stick with stock valves, I came across them again.

Also, they port match intakes, which I do not believe Texas-Speed does.

There is very little difference in flow between the TSP/PRC Stage I and Stage 2.5 due to the ONLY difference being the larger valves on the Stage 2.5. The porting is identical between the two.

That is the case with just about every head porter. The only difference between Stage 1, 2, 3, etc is valve size. Thanks for the input, but please stay on topic.

Going to a bigger valve and getting slightly more flow isn't necessarily a good thing

Hammer, this isn't about bigger valves, or air flow. Only Frankenstein stage 1 243's...
