Default 2001 NBM Hardtop Formula RARE?

Hey all. I recently picked up a car that I thought was cool and that I didn't see many of... but after some research, it seems to be a relatively rare bird (pun intended). From what I gathered, there were about 140 total of these cars made in 2001 but the VAST majority were T-tops. I canta find a number on hartops. What are your thoughts???

2001 Formula Hardtop, NBM, auto, 3.23s, monsoon (has 67k miles)

You are correct that there were 140 NBM Formulas built in '01 (13.99%), and 179 of all '01 Formulas were HT (17.88%). While I didn't breakdown the combination of the two, you can get an estimate (which assumes a proportional distribution of colors across the HTs) by multiplying the %-ages:

0.1399 * 0.1788 = 0.025 (2.5%) or approximately 25 cars may have been both NBM and HT '01 Formulas.

Another option is to check CompNine.com and see if that can tell you exactly how many had that RPO combo (28U NBM and NO CC1 / DE4 T-tops).

Thank you for the detailed response and the insight! If that's accurate, it seems it's pretty rare.
2001 was the last year for the hardtop too, right?

That's correct. My 2002 formula had t-tops as standard equipment.

Nice pickup man wish mine would of had a hardtop and I didn't have to deal with the leaky seals on the T-tops.

Thanks bro. I'd actually like a T top but don't want the headaches you're talking about.

The downside to the hardtop is that panel replacement is much more difficult and panels are harder to come by vs. the T-top models. But, of course, it's hassle either way. Here's some information on the issue in case you're unaware:

No problem. To be clear though, the last HT V8s were built in '01. You could still get a V6 Firebird w/ a HT in '02.

They probably are pretty rare to see these days..but ironically there was a guy in my neighborhood that had i believe a 2000 formula navy blue metallic hard top.
