Scat rods and icon pistons
I am building a TT Ls7 looking for about 1000 rwhp The guy building my motor has recommended scat connecting rods and Icon pistons I am using dart next block dart crank all pro heads plasma man intake....Anybody use these rods or Pistons please give me some info will they last at that power

Stock rods and pistons will last at 1000 wheel

I’ve used Scat rods for several builds without issue. AllPro heads will rock on that engine. What bore/stroke you doing?

Man I sure am hoping.... just these positions and rods got me second guessing..... using roadstershop chassis and this 4l80e Hughes builds for this company called Borowski ..... so fingers crossed

The tune will be the single most important, but often the most overlooked, part of your build. Don’t skimp. Find a well known, reputable tuner and pay him what he wants to make it right.

I built a 505 BBC with incon pistons, scat rods and 9000 series crank. The pistons (manufactured by UEM, if I'm not mistaken) are VERY nice, and budget priced. There was barely .0001 deviation in bore size, and pin bore size between all 8, and 1 gram weight difference between all 8. Very high quality 2618 alloy piston, and I'd have no problems running them again.

It was a carb'd engine, and I never bothered to dyno it. But I'd guess it to have been in the 625-650 hp/tq range. The biggest reason everyone dyno's engines these days is because they are injected, and need the ecm tuned to the combination. I'd say more then 70% of hot street carb engines never see a dyno. Tuning is done with screwdrivers. 6800-7000 rpm was no problem at all with that engine, and that's with HEAVY 4.350 bore pistons. Icon pistons are REALLY good pistons. Spot on machining, great metallurgy, weight-matched very well. They keep the cost down by not adding in things like coated skirts, detailed tops and such. I spent 30 minutes per piston detailing the tops of them, and the bottom of the skirts, and had the pin bores set to the clearance I wanted, and they were good to go. Run them with confidence.
