Default Any better fans than Derale 16925??

Hey guys like the title states anything out there that is better than these Derale 16925 pusher fans?? I've got a set on mine that ran flawlessly for the last couple summers but now one is completely dead and the other barely runs and it sounds horrible.

Any better alternatives out there pushing as much air?? I like these fans as they move air like a small hurricane but damn that lifespan is pretty short considering they only get used in spring/summer/fall

Car is a 3rd Gen Camaro They're mounted on a Griffin universal radiator like one everybody else uses in turbo builds. I'd rather not have to keep replacing these things but if there's nothing better out there than I guess I'll just replace them as needed

I like and use Spal fans. Never had a failure.
But I always run a puller not a pusher.

Yea I'd have to move the radiator forward a bunch to get a puller setup in there. I've got a big ol turbo sitting in the way

Figured that was the issue.
Many are using the "new" PWM fans.
I would post on the conversions threads asking the same question.

PWM fans I'll have to check out. I was looking into those brushless fans and oh boy are they worth a pretty penny

I'm gonna try out this Flex-a-Lite 16" pusher fan that claims to be good for 3000 CFM. I have a Griffin radiator and that fan will cover most of the core.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-105391

Reviews are all pretty positive unlike the other fan I was using

@91 Z28 How is this fan working for you? I've gotta buy something for my build and opinions are all over the place. I have the Griffin 58241 radiator, so I'm hoping this will work.

It's working good for me. I will say tho do not trust those little black thru radiator ties the fan comes with. I had an issue 2 weeks ago where they came apart and the fan grenaded and took out my radiator.

I did things a little differently this time around with the new rad and fan. I bolted my fan to the top and bottom edges of the radiator so that can't happen again.

Pics of the carnage and the new stuff. I've got the Griffin 55241-xs. Straight bottom outlet with 1.25" tubes. Have the fan mounted in the center and it covers just over 70% of the entire core

Sucks about the mounting failure, but thanks for the update. I was looking at this fan and also at a pair of Spal pushers, but I'd like to get away with the simplicity of one fan. It never gets mega hot here in Michigan, so I figure I don't need to go overkill on cooling.

Ah **** what can you do hey?? Live and learn. I'm up in Canada over on the West and in my area it gets up to about 110* in the summer and in my car I would see temps rise up to maybe 205* in traffic but come down as soon as I start moving. I actually find this fan to be much quieter than the Derale fans

How’s the single flex lite working out temp wise compared to the dual derale setup? If you build a custom shroud for it and move it off center would it be able to be used as a puller and still can be clearance with the turbo?

I like the fan setup the thing blows like a small hurricane. It's been doing a great job keeping the whip cool. I still had some air in my system that I hope I got out earlier today. Had my coolant funnel on with the car running and cracked open a steam vent line and a whole bunch more air bubbled out of the funnel.

This is the exact same fan only a puller version

I think I'm going to have to run twin fans after all, due to how I have my radiator mounted up:

I'm probably going to try dual derale pushers. As for rad, if wanting 1.25 thick rows instead of 1", both ports to be on the passenger side (turbo clearance in some applications), and the 1/4 NPT steam port already welded on, looks like I have to go with 1-58241-XLS. Figures it's the most expensive lol. Or save $90, get the 1-58241-XS and weld your own steam port.
If turbo clearance isn't an issue, the 1-25241-XS with the 1" rows and no steam port saves some good money. Not sure how much performance is lost with 1" vs 1.25".

I'm using the 55241-XS. My steam line goes to one of these inline adapters

I've been reading a LOT of negative reviews regarding the motors on Derale fans, that their quality has went significantly downhill. I'd rather not deal with them crapping out on me. I've found these as a reasonable alternative: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/spu-ix-30101505 Not sure if they're powerful enough, however.

If only Spal made a set of pushers where each one pushed 2000 cfm. It sucks having to run pushers due to limited space, not sure if I want to take the gamble on the Derales or not. I was going to run them like this:

I took that gamble and those fans had maybe 100 hrs run time and while I was doing something else unrelated I watched both of those fans die within 10 minutes of each other. I beefed up the wiring, auto reset 40 amp breakers I did everything I could right off the hop and still failed miserably.

Instead of using the basic i/o to run your fans make a custom output so you can have more control, like not having fans turn on when cranking

Thanks for the heads up! I'll look into setting them up as a custom output.
