Untouched assembled they range from $900-$1200 for a set. $500 to $600 bare is what I'm buying them for at the moment.

Are you looking to sell your Veronica Daniels heads or just purchase a new set?

Seen where you compared LS7 cylinder heads to VD in post 9 of the linked thread below and I thought it was funny..

Good morning. Thanks for the memory jog. Sure have quite a few decisions to make. At this point, I'm not sure which way to go. I was hoping to get a few responses to what I found upon disassembly of the heads yesterday. But it is 26 posts in, and even though I put it back ttt, my guess is most don't want to wade thru that many posts to see. I was pretty surprised at what I found after the disassembly....

I can’t comment as to why your one exhaust guide was out of spec about an inch…lol…but I will say that I’ve seen a lot of guys post their guide wear results, and they are always very random with one or two in different spots being out waaaay more than the other guides around it. No rhyme or reason other than it’s a GM LS7 casting so expect weird results.
The coating on the exhaust valves being rough to the touch…now that seems to me like it’s almost an incompatibility between whatever guide material was used, and the valve itself. I’m straight-up speculating here without actually seeing the valves myself under magnification and miccing the valve guides for clearance numbers. There’s a couple of variables at play, such as guide to stem clearance on the exhaust side needs a scoche more than the intake side…the actual coating on the exhaust valve and exactly what is it or is it just a marred uncoated valve?…Was the guide concentric initially and was it confirmed? Was the valve stem concentric and was it confirmed? Guides get hammered in and valvejobs are done with the new guide in place, and off of the new guides location, so guide installation is critical always.
Does any of this really matter at this point, as the damage is done. I’m impressed the valve head didn’t remove itself and leave you without an engine, so there’s that.

AFAIK, the valves are uncoated. They are all hardened stainless. Intakes are Ferrea hollow stems, exhaust are unknown brand solid stem, and weigh 98g. Thank you all for responding..

Yes the valve seat to guide centerlines were checked by me with gage pins and an indicator graduated in .0005" marks. This was done by me to verify the readings our CMM operator got. Yes, I'm firmly old school, lol, and I just wanted to double check. My results were all 16 guides checked good. All were at .0009"-.001", or less. Which squares with the CMM being slightly less, about .0005"-.0008". Probably because gage pins I used were std., +.0005", -.0005", and -.0002" sets. I had to use a pin with some clearance, or I couldn't spin it in the guide. I feel this led to slightly greater readings due to whatever slop there was, which was very little, gave an ever so slightly greater eccentricity than actual. As you may expect, all this took considerable time, so I didnt check the actual clearances. I assumed they were good, as the valves moved freely in the guides, and had virtually no wiggle. It appeared to be an excellent valve job. Of course, it could be the exhaust valve guide clearances were a bit tight. Guess we'll never know. Especially since my go to guy is now retired. The farther into retirement I get, the more my connections are disconnected!! That's the way it is, I guess. Lucky to have them as long as I did...
