Default 9 Second combos on ls1 F-bodies??

Hey guys!!

OK here is the deal. I have been thinking lately about saving my 04 Zo6 for street driving and building up an F-body for drag strip use.
I have been looking at some high mileage cars and they seem to be in the $5-8K range. These cars are not perfect, but I am gonna build a drag car.

Let me hear some ideas on what you would buy and how you would build a 9 second Ls1 terror!!! I already have an NX kit, EFILive, LM1, and could use the TSP stage 2.5's and cam that are on the Z now and put the stock stuff back on or go bigger!!

Trans, rear, converter, motor, etc.??

I dont want to break the bank, so lets keep that in mind.

Thanks!!!

Since I own an 02 Z06, and a 98 Formula, I would definitely agree and not drag race the Z06 extensively.

For 9.99@133:

-9" 3.50 gear
-T400 trans
-9" converter
-150 shot
-heads
-cam
-stock bottom end
-1.75 long tubes, cutouts, stock catback (or duals)
-36 lb injectors
-Upgraded fuel system
-6 pt cage
-slicks and skinnies
-removal of 200 lbs of weight from car

Buy a car without the engine and start from there with a stroker!
stroker + nitrous = nines

Look at LT1 cars. I picked up my 96 with 102k miles for $5,000 in great shape and could have got it for 5k but it was from a buddy and he financed for me.

You could get one for 4k range high miles ditch the drivetrain and go LS1.

Check out autotrader.

Thanks JUICED96Z.

That is not a bad idea!!! I wonder where I could get a wiring harness?? If I were to go that route I think I would rather have a new harness compared to going out to a yard and trying to find one that is not cut or hacked up.

Thanks again!!

Chris, why not buy a turn key n/a mid 9 second car? Just finished the new engine and trans is fresh. You'll spend twice what I am asking for what's in the car.
