Default SBC help

ok so i got a 84 corvette that originally came with a crossfire setup. my plans are ditching the crossfire and doin a carb setup. the problems im runnign into is with the belt setup. i wanna get rid of the a/c and smog stuff but the way my belts are setup it looks im better off goin to an old school style belt setup

what do you guys think i can do?

heres a pic of my belt setup/

Well, if you delete the smog pump, you might be able to get a AC delete pulley. Check Ebay and GM for the part. I am sure there was one available though i could be wrong.

It may be more simple to get a third gen Camaro serpentine belt set up with an AC delete pulley. I've got one, but no hardware..

Well, it MIGHT work, you just need to try it. Kind of a PITA figguring out the belt size.

the only problem I see with that setup is the tensioner was designed to run on the backsid eof the belt....doing it this way, the face of the belt which I am assuming is multi-grooved, will be riding on a flat surface with no grooves.....will probably were the ribs out on the belt and possibly slip off...Just my $.02

plus you need more contact area on the waterpump. it WILL slip when trying push water at cruising speed and run hotter and also burn the belt up faster.
