Vortech 350 injector question

Default Vortech 350 injector question

My friend has a 1997 Vortec 350 with a supercharger. He upped the boost and now needs more injector. Where can I find out what injectors he needs? Thanks

Well, if you cannot tune it out and the injectors are operating at ful cycle, then go with a 10 lb higher injector if possible, i am sure that would do great as there is no way he upped more that 10 lbs of boost right?

I understand what needs to be done. I dont know where to buy the injectors from or what size is stock? Where is a good place to go to learn these things on this engine?

If you are talking about the injectors that come in the 96-98 chevy pick ups I think you are out of luck, those injectors are unique by themselves. Nobody I know of makes an aftermarket one and if you are maxed out on duty cycle then the only alternative would be is to splice in an aftermarket regulator and do away with the one in the intake and turn up the fuel pressure. I think my buddy got some kind of different injector from Scoggin and Dickey to put in his vortec truck but I don't think he used them.

try 454 vortec injectors. they have to be larger than the 350 ones.

You cannot really upgrade the stock poppets. You can upgrade to the GM Mul-tec 2's, but they are still at 19pph, but you can run them at higher pressures safely, as the stock poppets start to bleed around 75psi.

Alternatives are the marine intake, and everything would bolt up the same, but he would have to get injector connectors and all that good stuff, or the ramjet. Both would require some fab work, but not bad. Both provide better airflow than the stock vortec intake manifold, as the injectors are moved outside on a rail, instead of INSIDE the manifold. They also let you run pretty much any injector you please in them.

Here's a thread to the marine intake. I would suggest reading it all. I am getting mine this upcoming week and putting it on the weekend, but either way, you'll have to do tuning to get it to run right.

Not a problem. What kind of supercharging system does he have on the truck? I bet it's fast, as my basically stock 5.7 in a 4wd wit mud tires runs low-mid 15's. After this winter, hopefully I'll break into the 13's.

Its a powerdyne. Its really not built for speed at all. Its a 1997ish full four door dually truck that came with a 454 but has been converted to a 350 vortech, has a fully molded 1990 honda accord dash, all custom gauges, bagged, shaved, suicide rear doors, Some kind of 22" polished dually wheels. Its going to be a show truck. Im not sure why he is messing with the boost
