best way to make 1000+hp?
Hey im going to Pcsing to Okinawa for 2yrs and i prolly wont come home at all so ive decided to go ahead and build a serious street car. I want to make at a minimum 900whp and preferably a lil more, I know how to build a drivetrain and chassis to handle this and my budget is around 20k. What i would like to know is what would be the easiest combo to use to hit my hp mark? I know a BBC is best but what cubes and what power adder? I want simplicity and pump gas usage, I was thinking a a 540 with a F1R at about 12-14psi would get me there. What do you guys think? Please chime in if you have built a street BBC to make this kind of power.

That's overkill, you can make 1,000+ with a 496 and a direct port kit. When you start talking about 540+ that means a 502 block or aftermarket and that's at least $1,500. The engine is the easy part, most of that 20K will go towards chassis and suspension.

this thing is actually a perfect fit for what you want, 1200 HP pump gas it's a hydraulic cam as well.

I made 800whp with a 406 and a pro race fogger.
on muscle made a tick under 500 whp and was pump gas friendly,on the wire it made 800whp.
Nitrous in that large of quanity is hard on parts,i would say a 500 ish bbc with a turbo or f2r would be the hot setup.

So...that is a 572? Making 1200 93 octane HP? And you can make 1000 FWHP out of a 400 SBC on 93 octane...what a waiste of cubes, that thing should be cranking over 1400 HP.

Well, running around with over 600 RWHP makes it fun not needing to spray all the time, then you find someone you need 1 kit(150)...then there is the occasional 850 RWHP supra...then the second kit(150) comes into play.
So...that is a 572? Making 1200 93 octane HP? And you can make 1000 FWHP out of a 400 SBC on 93 octane...what a waiste of cubes, that thing should be cranking over 1400 HP.

a 400 can beat a 572 is hp numbers
but if built correctly displacement will always win

What are some issues I will run into making that kind of power with a bbc? I'm tired of supras dominating the highways, I think it would be awesome to shut down a 1000hp supra with a 3rd gen

Go with an aftermarket block. It's not necessary, but the extra advantages are more than worthwhile. Especially the extra headbolts that the aftermarket blocks usually have would help gasket integrity. While you're at it, you could go straight to 570+ci and make the target power that much easier and leave room for much more if you ever get the itch to do so.
We used a GM Bowtie block for 600ci, with Brodix heads, BDS 14-71 roots blower, and twin dominators to make 1150 hp for the powerboats. The cam was around 260-280 degrees, but was all wrong because we gained 25hp across the board by advancing the cam 1 degree. This was on 91 octane and about 10.5psi and never turned over 6300RPM.
We used a GM Bowtie block for 600ci, with Brodix heads, BDS 14-71 roots blower, and twin dominators to make 1150 hp for the powerboats. If you listen to KCS, you will have more fitment issues, a tall deck makes things harder for the headers to work, even raised exhaust port heads change things up.
Buy a 565 ci short block and put some nasty *** AFR heads on it with a huge solid roller will make 850 HP on motor, a small 200 shot sets you over the 1000 HP mark.

I know not to use a tall deck block Zane but why do you think n20 is the way to go? I know I can make the same amount of power either way but I hate having to fill up a bottle all the time and I also want to be able to cruise a low rpms because it will be a T-56 car. Also does anyone know what an F2R costs? I can never seem to find any prices on Prochargers on the net, its like its a secret or something.

I do believe an aftermarket block is almost required for this kind of power.
