Alright Im back on the BBC bandwagon, I need 600+whp on motor and 800-850whp on the bottle. Ideas?? I think a 540 w/some AFRs and a healthy hr will do just fine. Do you guys think its worth it to go with a aftermarket block at these power levels?

Well Jeremy, i finally decided to lose the AC when i do my next engine, A BBC with a decent solid roller will idle OK, it is the retarded cams that idle crazy(track only). Solid roller isnt that bad. As for the block, i have friends running 2 bolt main 468s for track only cars, solid roller alcohol and nitrous. If that tells you how strong a stock BBC is.

Well, a 496 can make 60 RWHP, but a 540 will do it and be more street friendly, but if you went aftermarket, just got 565, it is the most you can get with the short deck and not screw up all the geometry for the headers, unless you get raised exhaust port heads, then you **** it up anyways.

Good, if you get a 540, you can go with 10 to 1 instead of maxing the compression, making it easier on the spray ad pump gas. Unless you want to bump to 11.5 to 1 with a separate tank with 116 race fuel that will inject with the nitrous(thatis what i will be doing).
