I'm getting 632rwhp (~800 at the crank) out of my 383 with a Vortech T-trim and 12.2# of boost. Nice and reliable too.
But you need everything else in the car to be beefy enough to handle that type of power: tranny, rearend, cooling system, exhaust, etc. Expect to spend some money $$$$.
