motor combination?? hey guys im looking for some help in the motor department fo rmy new build!! im lloking for mid to low 9's and still havent decided on a built bbc or built sbc! on top of what motor to go with i was going to run a decent nx shot (250-400) but recently have been thinking about throwing a procharger on there instead either an f1 or f2!! i was thinking depending on what motor i go with to have it running 450-550hp n/a then strap then blower on and hopefully get up to 800-900hp!! i know the f1 an f2 are capable of 38lbs of boost so i think the hp number is attainable!! now what motor would be best?? im prone to a bbc cause it would be easier to get the power rating i want n/a but will a sbc be cheaper?? what motor combination would be best for my goals??
A nice, all-forged 383 or 406 SBC would get you in the ballpark with a good set of heads, compression around 9.3-9.5, a Vortech YSi or Procharger F1 with a big front mount IC is a tried and true recipe.
I'm getting 632rwhp (~800 at the crank) out of my 383 with a Vortech T-trim and 12.2# of boost. Nice and reliable too.
But you need everything else in the car to be beefy enough to handle that type of power: tranny, rearend, cooling system, exhaust, etc. Expect to spend some money $$$$.

i would think thats its easier to drop in a sbc than a bbc in 4th gen chassis.
a few people here have done the swap, can work around stock kmember, same size as lt1, etc.
