Default HELP on carburating a lt1 383

I have recently stroked a 1997 trans am to a 383. I have had nothing but
problems from the electrical systems and was looking into carburating it also I
have totaled the costs up and it would be cheaper to carburate it in the end.
For the fact that i in the future i want it to be in the 1000 hp range. So if I
keep the EFI I will have too tune it every other day which costs more money
in the end. I know that GM Performance Parts make an intake for it also I
know that you can put the HEI distributor in itand it will run off the cam.

My biggest questions were would i still need my computer and if so for what?

I did the conversion to SBc in my car. I kept the PCM since there was no reason to pull it i think. But unless you are going FI, carbing it or EFI will not get you 1000 HP. Not enough ci, unless you are going to spray the mother loving hell out of it.

I run a T56, but with a automatic you would need a 700R4 unless you got a wiring harness to make it work some how. But a TH350 would be great if power is more of a concern that streetability.

Well, i dont know how you mean "street legal", if you install a carb you are basically making it illegal, just like removing catalytic converters and emissions equipment.
